That may be but Zids left the guy with a bloody jersey.

Tootoo didnt even Stay there long enough to "want to drop them" He threw the hit, went to glove Fischer in the fact, then ran like hell.

Hell, if you wanna play homer, ill be a homer. Tootoo didnt play again after that little incident. Obviously he wanted no part of Fischer, who continued to play a regular shift.

Seriously, i have the thing on tape. If you are that in denail, i bet i could get the thing Captured and show you how quickly Tootoo skated away from Fischer, and the huge ass Grin Jiri had on his face when tootoo went to face wash him but thought better of it and skated away.
I saw the situation. I did go to the game. I've seen the replay. What did you think Tootoo was going to do? Drop them and have Fischer just keep grinning and do nothing? Face wash and maul Fischer and get a roughing? Tootoo wants to draw a penalty, not commit one. Once he realized Fischer was going to be stoic, he dropped the issue. Smart move on his part and an even smarter move on Fischer's part. Bottom line was Fischer wasn't going to fight there. He's not going to sit in the box during a crucial time.

And Tootoo didn't play after that little incident? Relating that to being scared of Fischer isn't being a homer, it's just being ignorant of hockey. Tootoo doesn't have free reign of his shifts. Trotz does. And in crucial situations, Tootoo doesn't play.

And don't kid yourself. You can prattle on about how Tootoo was scared of Fischer and no one can prove you wrong. I'll just say this. The kid has repeatedly gone after Chris Pronger during games. Been seriously cheapshotted by Pronger and still came right back at him. I don't think he's too scared of Jiri. This isn't Ruutu or some semi-punk. This is a borderline psychotic hockey player. He doesn't follow the normal rules of a guy like Avery. He's just odd.

The guy he fought was North American.

Agreed. I don't intend on starting a GDT agaoin, period. I jinxed us. I even wore my hoodie. I don't know about the rest of you that attended the game but there were several yelling matches between preds and wings fans within earshot of me. Some of them got pretty dirty.

What can I say? Detroit shut us down and played a smart game. Honestly, outside of those 3 minutes in the 2nd we at least stuck with the wings. The defense and VT just had a REALLY bad few minutes.

Anyone else notice who badly VT has played since it was announced that he made the all-star game? It's almostg like it's made him a nervous wreck. I obviously still think he's our #1, but his inconsistent play is really making me nervous. I say give mase the start thursday??

Just out of curiousity, how large is the Wing fan throng for games at the GEC?

We seem to get a couple thousand here in Columbus, but I think a large majority of those are locals who cheered the Wings before the CBJ came along, and who haven't been converted yet.

They seem to be largely harmless, but obnoxious.

however many people work at Saturn, multiply by two and you get your Red Wings fan base down here

And where are they the other 38 games of the season? You'd think they be there cheering the Preds but you can tell by their seat locations (at least around me) that they are not regulars!

That’s what I hate about those people. They act all high and mighty when they win, but when we ask where they’ve been the first 2 games here or where they are the rest of the year they get all pissy and start cursing us and trying to fight us. They don’t say anything about being from Detroit or being Predator fans the rest of the time, which would be understandable for why they’re only here for the one game or in RW gear for those games. But no, they just start yelling in everyone’s faces. I actually had a wing fan come up to me and apologize for the way some other wings fans were acting after those ones were escorted out by Nashville’s finest.
---------------------------------------------------
Anyway.....I did not enjoy that. Surely that was not the same Predator team that we had seen before. There was no intensity, we just seemed slow all night (well, after the first). Lots of lollygagging. Passes were either in feet or 20 feet to far ahead. I can’t understand why not one single player thought it would possibly be a good idea to go to the front of the net, at least once, they didn‘t even seem to try. They played decent for the most of the first period and then it’s like they were on sedatives for the rest of the game (someday they‘ll play for a full 60 minutes). Vokoun just didn’t have it last night at all, not that hardly anyone else did either. Quite a bit of bonehead moves out there all around all game.

Mason did good, got him a semi-shutout. I really like him as the backup. I’m not nervous anymore putting him in the net. I have liked Morgan and Smith out there, they seem to generate lots of chances and energy. Good goal by Smith.

Well, we were due for a home loss and we know we can’t win them all but I guess the way we lost is just upsetting. Back to work for Tampa Bay.

One more thing...I really liked the band that played! They actually played different music and were good.

That happened in 2nd period, Tootoo had more time in the 3rd period than any other period, he also leveled McCarthy in the third, it was right in front of me so I remember it well. Trying to judge Tootoo on TV is nearly impossible as players dump the puck right before he gets there so they can protect from the hit. I also noticed DRW all night made sure to get a skater in between Tootoo and the puck to keep him from throwing big hits, this is what McCarthy was doing when he was called for interference.

Agreed. And oftentimes the Dman would force a pass early just so Tootoo wouldn't have a chance to hit him.
