I don't think it'll likely happen ... they'd have to jump Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and Montreal ... but who the hell though Dallas would be within 5 points with games in hand of a Top 10 finish in points with less than 20 games to go.

(watch them turn around their season now...however unlikely it is).

so McKeown should be the target at that range, no?
what about the forwards at that range, who fit our speed game? Larkin, Kempe, Fabbri maybe?

Edit: interesting that they dropped Honka from the top 30...

I love Mckeown in that range but I have a feeling he goes earlier than most projections have him. I like Kempe best of those forwards and he definitely has the speed to fit. I see they have Ho-Sang at 11 but I feel like he is a guy who has has a good shot at being around in Dallas' range as well.

If Ho-Sang's available he might be a good pickup. His stock has fell drastically since he came into the ohl and is now starting to show why there was so much hype around him. He's essentially a kadri clone that will be available in the middle of the first round.

I remember a fear years ago people listing a comparable for him of Modano. Obviously he has fallen but he does have some of the best skating and hands in this draft.

This is a junior game, but still pretty impressive.

ISS has him 13th right now just ahead of Ehlers another very interesting small, highly skilled forward. He's right in Dallas' range.

The Q scares the hell out of me ... small guys scare the hell out of me ... but for some reason Ehlers constantly sticks out when I see highlights or read about him.

He seems like he could be an ideal winger for Benn-Seguin. You get Nuke running and controlling the 2nd pair has he gets older and more confident and you might honestly create a situation where you can shutdown one of the lines sometimes but both of them rarely.

On the other hand, Ehlers screams bust potential. If his speed and scoring make him an NHLer though ...

I want us to go full Pittsburgh and spam defensive prospects in the early rounds. Sooner or later we get a Määttä.

800 NHL games played between them. Drafting D ain't the problem, developing them is.

Dallas would pick 13th as of today ... NJ is below them and being forced to pick 30th.

Unless they totally collapse, the lowest they'd probably pick is 12th. They still play Washington who could pass them, and I just don't believe Toronto or Vancouver can.

The highest they could probably pick right now is 19th, unless the made the conference finals.

Apparently Nick Ritchie had a monster game including scoring the OT goal for the Petes. They were down 0-3 in the series, and they just completed the 4 game comeback.

This is his last opportunity to make an impression on the scouts, and he's apparently taking it seriously. He's a December 1995 birth so he's not eligible for the U-18.

I wouldn't be upset if he landed in Dallas, but he's a bit redundant. Him keeping his stock up and going ahead of Dallas might allow a better fit for Dallas to fall further. He plays a similar style as Benn, his brother, and what they're trying to get Chiasson to be. Obviously you can't have too many of those guys, but I'd kind of like to see Dallas go after a high end skill like like Ehlers or that Finn or Ho-Sang. With Nieuwy, they emphasized size over skill typically.

Do you get to watch many OHL games?

Ritchie, McCann, Ho-Sang, Fabbri, Perlini, and McKeown all seem to be projected around Dallas' pick.

Which one has stood out to you. Ho-Sang I've seen lately questioned for hockey sense, but he's has major skill ... could be a big boom or bust pick.

I've been able to watch Bennet, McKeown and Watson on the Frontenacs a fair amount over the past 2 years.

I personally think McKeown will be a stud and I've said that time and time again. He shoots right, has great hockey sense and is very mobile. I'd be absolutely thrilled if he was drafted by the Stars.

Out of the bunch, I think Ritchie goes before our pick. Robby Fabbri would be unreal to get.

Ho-Sang is an interesting player. I've heard rumblings of attitude problems and all that stuff but the kid has all the talent in the world. He could honestly have the most talent out of the draft class.

Leading up to October people called this draft a weak one... but if you break it down there's a lot of interesting prospects this season. It's going to be really interesting to see how the First Round plays out.

Does Fabbri play with Dickinson on Guelph?

If I can remember it right, Fabbri was centering the first line and Dickinson centering 2nd line with Kosmachuk.

I haven't watched Guelph in a while. March got hectic school-wise.

With just two more losses and 3 points from Washington, this team can still nail down a top 12 pick!
