That is no concession. It is clear as day those two are the best forwards in the league.

Crosby and Malkin

The rest of the pack

As another fan, I agree.

Stamkos has averaged higher numbers but Giroux is better defensively but Stamkos could get to those top 2 depending on what he is like without St.louis.

It should be noted, that the gap between Giroux and Philly's #2 scorer is 19 points....most in the league with Kopitar 13 being second.(omitted Pitt and TB as both had stars that missed games in Malkin and Stamkos. Safe to say they would get some points if playing)

He will be tested in the next 10 games as all are against teams better than Philly. If Philly is going to make the playoffs, he will need to keep up his present pace.

He only scores because of Jagr and isnt good enough for the Olympics. HF and Yzerman facts.

Also, in before someone takes it overly seriously.

Not the first all star level player that didn't show up at the start of the season and he won't be the last. It happens. He's a great talent. Anyone saying was washed up knows nothing about hockey.

Giroux wasn't good enough to make Team Canada.

This thread title reminds me of "The Onion" . For instance their Headline " South postpones rise again for yet another year"

So I don't think he can win it, but if he continues at his current pace he could, as I mentioned above, finish second in points and potentially be a finalist for the Hart.

Quite the turnaround.

Not very surprising. G's never been one to be content with being bad.

When he was doing poorly in the beginning of the season, it was extremely visible how mad he was about it. That first goal changed everything and got his game back...stopped squeezing the stick so hard.

the only reason giroux got so much **** is because some people lost their minds after a playoff series and were calling him the best player in the world

I take offense to this thread title!!

It's actually been 4 years. Se has finished in scoring:

11th, 3rd, 13th and this year is tied for 4th.

So looking at his trend, next year, will he will finish 15th in scoring?

The only person I know of that said that was his coach. Maybe a couple Flyers fans said it jokingly as a dig at Pens fans, but I don't know of any Flyers fans that said it or actually believed it.

I came here to post the exact same thing. His poor start lead me to believe the Flyers would've been a lottery team and that Giroux wouldn't score 20

You mean one person, his coach, lost his mind. Then a bunch of Pens fans repeated it ad nauseam.

98% of Flyers fans here thought that was an entirely groan-worthy proclamation.

It wasn't groan-worthy on the (arguably safe, IMO) assumption that Laviolette was calling him the best player in the world at that moment in time. He had 14 points in that series, while Malkin and Crosby combined for 16, plus Laviolette was talking about a pretty impressive opening shift in a series clinching win...

If it wasn't an in the moment statement, then almost nobody could've or should've agreed with it. However, the context seems to get overlooked a bit by many when the label invariably rears its head in a Giroux thread.

He's one of the most dangerous forwards in the NHL atm.

Just became (I think) the player with the most points in the NHL over the last 3 seasons.

No. Not in the slightest. You thought he'd just like, magically stop being elite or something? I bet you're one of the guys that wouldn't put him on your Team Canada because he had that one slump.
