Michael Kostka

Just wanted to start a thread on this guy. What does everyone think? I personally think he is starting to figure out what Cooper wants of him. With his stellar performance against the Devil's he might have a future here. Also, he looks like Thor...

I don't want him logging heavy minutes, and he needs to be sheltered, but as a #6/#7 he's okay.

Not sure, I don't think he us an upgrade from Barb and maybe not Aulie either but he does a decent job as a 6-7 dman for sure.

Not a fan of his... but he's getting the points so I trust Cooper... IMO he's a #7 and that's all

He somehow reminds me of Matt Gilroy who showed great offensive instincts as well. Kostka is one year younger and so far has produced at a better pace. He's been a pleasant surprise and Cooper seems confident in playing him. Solid #6-7.

He's 4 years older then Aulie and Barberio, he isn't as NHL experienced as you would think at that age but he's been around awhile and D need time to figure it out which he seems to have. I prefer to play Aulie or Barberio cause I think they have more potential but Kostka is steady which Cooper wants that with a playoff push going. He's a UFA so not sure he'll be back but we did sign Cote who isn't as good as Kostka so can see him being resigned. Think we only resign one of him or Salo, depends on how Salo holds up down the stretch, if he wants to come back next season and what his contract demands will be.

I like him. I'd be OK if he stayed as a #7/ PP specialist forever.

He can hit the net and isn't afraid of shooting the puck. He is A-Ok in my books.

Consistency will be the real question with him. He typically starts off well but then for whatever reason, gets comfortable and floats. Maybe Cooper can keep him playing well since they've worked together in the past.

He's playing very well right now. We need every D-man to play very well right now.

So far, I've really liked what I have seen from Kostka. He seems comfortable playing for Coop (like so many of our players), and I can hardly complain about the price it took to get him.

Seems like a fun guy. I really enjoy Sounds of the Game - wish they would do it more often.

Looks exactly like Thor, and we have Captain America in Johnson, Hulk in Gudas, time for an updated Avengers pic.

Unfortunately Johnson is not Captain America, he is Steve Rogers

I've liked Kotska so far. He seems to be a great 6/7 Dman. My biggest complaint is that he is taking a lot of ice time from Barbs, and I thought Barbs was just starting to hit his stride. If Kotska is going to be staying with us, it's not a big deal, though.

Great waiver pick-up.

Great guy for sure. His contract ends after this season and he'll be an UFA. I could see us re-signing him for assurance though.

I don't like him at all.

I even would rather have Barberio.

Totally agree with you, he isn't good enough and doesn't bring anything to the team than stupid plays, rather see Barbs or Aulie.

Kotska has been really solid since he came. He's not going to be a rock in the Dzone, but he's shown some good instincts and is a good 6/7.

I would prefer Barbs get some more playing time, though. I don't think Kotska is such a huge upgrade over Barbs to warrant him getting scratched for the last ~10 or so games.
