What Do You Think of This??

To Phi:
ANA 1st
Robbie Schremp
Jason Smith

To Edm:
Joni Pitkanen

Edmonton gets the D-man that they need, while Philly gets another Draft pick that will be better than Nashville's, a top prospect better than most rookies in Philly, and Jason Smith... having an off year with the Oil...but overall... he is getting old and it is time for some young guns in the Oil Country

Greene, Lupul, Schremp and a 1st for Pitkanen.

I'd do it. The Oilers would be giving up a lot.

Would Philly though? I don't know.

I think they might ask for Torres instead.

If that happened, I might have to say yes.

Can't you let me dream that we get rid of Lupul and get Pitkanen at the same time..?

I would prefer to trade Smith or the Swedish Tom Poti(tjarnqvist), over greene.

the few players i want to see leave.....
pisani, torres, nedved, smith, tjarnqvist, schremp(if he doesnt play for the oilers next season)

the players i want to see come to edmonton:
MABergeron, Joni Pitkanen, Bill Guerin + Doug Weight( o know we want to rebuild.. but these guys can help our young guys like Cogs+ MAPouliot becoem stars)

You want to bring back MAB? I like the guy and all, but he isn't coming back to play for the Oilers.

not sure why everybody wants Lupul and torres out... they are both having bad years and in Torres' case, it will allow us to sign him to a reasonable extension and hopefully he'll be lighting it up next year.

Haha, sorry.

I guess it comes down to which form of inconsistency you want, because that's what they both are.

What's with the man-crush over Joni? He won't be the savior the Oilers are looking for.

What has Joni done to prove that he is worth 3 "1st round" players?

I'd keep them both, but trade them next year if their numbers are as bad as this year. And why the hate against Pisani?

As for MAB... good riddance.

Pitkanen is a legitimate superstar defenceman. He is, as they say, the total package. He's probably everything Dion Phaneuf is, minus the open-ice hitting, just a little slower in his development.

But what we're offering for him here ... table scraps like Lupul and Greene and a mediocre prospect in Schremp ... won't cut it.

I'll bet the conversation goes like this:

Lowe: We want Pitkanen.
Holmgren: Alright. We want Hemsky.
Lowe: See ya.
Holmgren: Yep, bye.

I'd bet Pitkanen is a non-starter. Players like him are generational and you're not going to give him up unless you're getting a similar star player in return.

Pitkanen for Hemsky = fair trade

Just like hemsky Joni hasnt done much to prove that he is worth 3 first rounders.. Joni while having a bad year still has 30 assists this year which would be more then every oiler not named hemsky. Just like hemsky PHI has no reason to trade him.
Pitkanen for Phaneuf = fair trade and there is no way CGY would want 3 1st (2 highly underacheiving and 1 unknown) for Dion.
