Luke makes Macdonald worst. If the flyers are serious about making a playoff run they need to put gus in for luke. He is a lost cause at this point.

Luke has been just fine for the last little while. Not sure what you're watching, but I've been totally satisfied with LSchenn recently. He's keeping it simple and protecting his zone well. Not much more I'd expect out of him.

Luke Gus and McD can all stay..

its Grossmann who should be the oddman out at this point.

Luke's been playing like he was last year since the deadline. He's just making smart reads out there. He's throwing big hits & playing responsible in his own zone defensively. He's even contributing offensively with his tape to tape passes to help the transition game.

I don't hate him, I like him I want him to be good, I want that 2007 season to at least account for something. But it is not my fault if he is a terrible defender. The flyers made a horrible a trade and we all know it but in order to soften the blow we give an unusual amount of praise to him for doing something that kent huskins could do.
Last year I thought he may have turned the corner and could be a 20 minutes 2nd pairing guy for us, but that is even asking too much. He is a third pairing guy, maybe one of the better third pairing guys in the league but that is all he is.

As much as we all rag on Grossmann he's been playing solid lately, you have to give credit where it's due.

His name isn't popping up as frequent in our game threads as it did two weeks or so ago.

I agree I don't expect more out of him either, but the bar is set so low for him that I could blindly pick a defense man off the Phantoms and ask them to do the same and they would be able to perform as well more or less.

Brayden Schenn had a couple of soft plays in the neutral zone and at the offensive blue line, notably a tough drop pass that Chicago turned into their 1st goal. That being said though once the Flyers settled in they really didn't give up too much sustained pressure, there was a shift here and there where they got pinned but that's going to happen against Chicago.

If you truly believe this, you are a poor judge of talent.

EDIT: I think LSchenn has been better than BSchenn since the deadline. Anyone else agree? BSchenn's just been disengaged.

It seems like whenever one of BSchenn & Couturier is playing well the other one isn't. I don't recall a time when both were playing well at the same time.

Remember earlier in the season when we wondered what this Flyers team would look like if more than one line was playing well at the same time? Well, with Couts and Giroux beasting, I think this is that team.

agreed. And with our "3rd" line consisting of vinny schenn and simmer that has to be the most talented 3rd line in the league. If they ever got some chemistry together this team could make a serious run.

Well the Stars have been pretty mediocre in their last ten & just got chased out of Consol tonight, it's looking like a winnable game & will have me sky high leaving this five game stretch (regardless of the outcome against St. Louis on Saturday) if we were to pick up against them on Thursday.

It would be amazing if we are able to win these next three games. Dallas and LA are very winnable. St. Louis will be tough but, we might be able to pull through.

Gus in for Grossmann maybe. Luke is pretty damned good if he's paired with the right guy.

Edit: Speaking of Schenns, how was B in the other 47 minutes I didn't see? He looked promising in the last 13 minutes, not idea if that's indicative of his whole game. Based on what I'm reading it may not be.

He was somewhat to blame on the first goal. He made a blind drop pass at their blueline, and then failed to pick up Shaw in the slot. Having said that, Sharp made a great play in taking Streit wide, and the reason he missed shaw is because he was trying to block the original shot that Handzus took.

Other than that one shift he was pretty solid. He got better as the game went on. I thought he was as good as he's been all year in the 3rd.

Small note: the Flyers are even in GF/GA for the first time this season.

Yeah, he was great in the 3rd. I know Vinny is normally a big problem in the D zone, but he didn't look so bad tonight in the 13 minutes I saw. Yet, that line was still pretty weak in its own zone. I'm starting to look at Schenn at center for that. Whatever, he's still young. Carter wasn't all that good defensively when he came into the league and he learned...Schenn has that potential.

I was as TSN cut off right after the OT goal, couldn't see it clearly, happened so fast.

Also,

Emery, yoi.... scary game, his lateral movement is brutal. horror movie bad.

B. Schenn has to stop being cute and do his work.

I'd like to see more from Downie (he is capable)

Team played well after they settled down.
