Good. All in management's hands, now.

If Kane goes on LTIR that puts him out until April 9th. Not too bad.

That would allow TV or Morin to jump in. maybe both.

Kane on LTIR solves a lot of cap issues before the POs start. Not that I really want to trade Kane for Morin or Teravainen at this point, but they could both come up if he goes on LTIR tomorrow. Both coming up would give some flexibility on kicking Teravainen's tires before deciding if he was worth burning a year of ELC.

No. He won't be in Rockford this year. If he plays 10 games *anywhere* in North America, his ELC starts running. NHL, AHL, ECHL, whatever. He will be playing his 9 games in the NHL and then Stan and co. will decide if he's going to play more. He won't touch the AHL until next season, if even then.

Who are you going to waive to make room for Teuvo?

What room? The only "room" needed is cap space; Kane on LTIR takes care of that. There is no roster limit post-trade-deadline. The Hawks could have 50 players on their roster if they all fit under the salary cap.

Patrick Kane would have to meet the following criteria to be placed on LTIR:

http://www.capgeek.com/faq/how-does-...erve-LTIR-work

Quote:
Teams are eligible to receive cap relief when a player is considered to have a "bona-fide long-term injury" injuries that cause a player to miss at least 10 games and 24 days. In such cases, the team can place the player on long-term injured reserve (LTIR).

If Kane were placed on LTIR tomorrow (3/20), the first day he could be activated would be 4/14 (24 days later), which would mean he would miss the last 12 games of the regular season. If the doctors really think he will be ready to go in 3 weeks (21 days) he could be back for the last two games of the regular season against Washington and Nashville, both on the road. Those last two games might be pretty important in terms of positioning for 1st/2nd/3rd in the division. Tough call.

On the other hand, if 3 weeks is an optimistic estimate, then it's a pretty easy decision to LTIR him and have the cap space for TT, Morin and others.

Sorry but you are wrong. The 10 games have to be NHL games regular season or playoff.

The CBA slide rule specifically says NHL games which then defines as regular season and playoffs.

Article 9.1

(d) (i) In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC with a
Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season
under that SPC,
the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry
Level System shall be extended for a period of one (1) year, except that
this automatic extension will not apply to a Player who is 19 according to
Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September 16 and December
31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club
expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an
additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC,
with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary,
games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided,
however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all
circumstances.

Article 1 definitions

"NHL Games" means Regular Season Games and Playoff Games.

The Hawks front office certainly worries about Teuvo's ELC as they should. He will get his 9 games and if it's believed he can help win a Cup he'll play longer, if not, he won't.

But Teuvo will have to prove it.

Break a leg!? Some guy told MMA fighter Anderson Silva to break a leg and in his next fight he actually broke his leg.

Anyhow can't wait to see Tuevo when he gets his shot. He was dominant in the WJHC

He would be free to be activated on Apr 11, for the 2nd last game against WSH. That is also the end of 3 weeks. I'm sure they go a couple games here to see how they play without him. If they are playing well, there is no need for a call up.

I see it as April 13 as the day Kane could come back. 24th day would be April l12th

If a Club exercises this Bona-Fide Long-Term
Injury/Illness Exception, the unfit-to-play Player that the Club replaces
shall be placed on the Long-Term Injury/Illness Exception List, and is
required to remain on such list until twenty-four (24) calendar days and
ten (10) NHL Regular Season games have elapsed from such Club's
schedule – measured from the later of the date of the Player's becoming
unfit to play or the Player's last game played – even in the event that the
Player once again becomes fit to play earlier than anticipated, and prior to
the elapsing of twenty-four (24) calendar days and ten (10) NHL Regular
Season games;

Imagine the loophole that would create.

The other catch would be what if there were only 9 games left. LTIR could not have been used.

Pronounced just like what? If you're name was pronounced TARE-VOH, there would be a U at the end.
