One could argue he wants to spread the wealth over all 4 lines when with Downie the 4th line probably becomes totally useless.

For a speedy team like the Stars they should call-up McGinn and put him on the 4th line LW spot and just bench Downie.
It balances out with Downie on the third line for a number of reasons; having Raffl on the 4th line allows our 4th line to actually get some scoring chances, with Downie on the 4th line were ****ed. Raffl would be a beast with Couts & Read, but for now I think the lines are pretty balanced. AND you can't forget every flyers line needs somone who can drop the gloves- 1st line=hartnell, 2nd line=all of them, 3rd line= downie, 4th line=rinaldo, someone needs to keep the kids safe on that 3rd line and Downie is our savior.

Read on the 2nd PP unit according to twitter. Very nice to see Downie off it and Reader back there. Much more faith in him than Downie.

Would love to pick up 2 points tonight, anything then against the Blues would be a bonus. But what i've learnt in my short time following the Flyers is it's more likely to take nothing from tonight and 2 points on saturday.

Flyers look good at the minute though and if they prepare properly they'll take this 3-1
Welcome to the boards. Hopefully you keep watching hockey and it takes over as your #1 sport. It's always nice to get fresh opinions in here unless they disagree with mine.

Based on the last three games:
  • vs. Chicago: Downie 2:15 -- Read 1:26
  • at Pittsburgh: Downie 1:47 -- Read 0:00
  • vs. Pittsburgh: Downie 0:00 -- Read 1:11

Dallas needs those 2 points just as dearly as the Flyers. This game will be intense...

Hopefully Downie sees no ice on the PP. He just has been too ineffective since the concussion.

Thinking about getting tickets to tonights game. They are 25 bucks right now for uppers.

It's looking like I will be going.

Do the tickets go down as the game approaches or is the difference usually not noticeable?

I've been planning for this game since before the holidays. I wanted to see Dallas in person, regardless is we took a nose dive or not.

And I think they do.

Had tickets I liked, refreshed the page and they were gone lol.

Maybe I will just buy them now and not worry about saving the 5 dollars like a cheap ass.

Factoring in the emotion level of the last 3 and now playing a non conference team whom we don't have hardly any rivalry with, this is seemingly and ideal spot for a let down.

That being said, I'm looking forward to this one. I, somewhat, view Dallas akin to Washington whereby their offensive depth takes a giant nosedive after their first line.

Clearly Cout's line is the key tonight along with a continued commitment to team D. Shutting down Seguin is paramount tonight. Their special teams are mediocre at best, they don't travel particularly well and they're the only Western team with a below .500 record against the East.

These are 2 points we cannot give up.

5-2 Philly.

I agree completely with this. The Stars could be the "lesser" opponents for whom the Flyers don't get up sufficiently.

Please don't take them lightly after beating up Pitts and Chicago, that's all i ask. They need to get revenge on that whooping they gave us in our first showdown.

I agree but in a different way.

I think the Flyers will come out absolutely flying (npi).
I'd worry about how they finish the game if they get a 2-0, 3-1 lead or something heading into the third.

Like to see Simmonds bring his A game tonight. I thought he'd be more of a presence in the Hawks game. Aside from losing that fight, he looked distracted and bagged at times.

It's not something often discussed here but he definitely has issues with pacing himself throughout the duration of a game. Voracek was the same last year.

I have a bad feeling Benn and Seguin will run wild on us again, but I had a feeling Crosby and Kane would too

I got a ticket for this game mainly because I love Dallas' new jerseys. Tickets also werent that expensive
