If Jed had one single ounce of offense talent in his body he would be worth his weight in Gold. The flat out stinks in the offensive with the puck. He is a the best fore checker on the team and his heart is the size of John Mclean's head but he couldn't score if his life depends on it

i agree.. its the same with hollweg. Then again thats why we have those guys on the 3rd and 4th line. I think a guy like Callahan would fit perfectly with Cullen and Dupuis. He'll be able to add that scoring touch.

you can't get everything out of one player. I'll tell you this though, if we had 10 players like Jed, we'd be cup contenders every year.

Not every player's role is to score. Ortmeyer just happens to get his share of scoring chances because he outworks the rest of the team and earns them.

Actually, watch tapes of Jed Ortmeyer from last year. Any notion of Jed ever playing solid 3rd line minutes would seem like an absolute miracle.

The guy does not and will never ooze offensive acumen. However, the strides his offensive game have made this year are actually VERY noticeable. While not always reflecting the situation perfectly, his offensive stats from this year are equal to that of last year's complete season (1/4 of the games)

Jed will always have hands of stone. But hope for him reaching a 25 pt. plateau aren't completely unreasonable.

Pretty much, just not as colorful

But I have to agree with you here. Next year I think Callahan replaces Ortmeyer on the 3rd line. Jed's my boy, but he belongs on the fourth line. Cally would have put in one of those chances. We need better finishing skills on the third line and Cally seems to be a good fit.
