I don't think there is a hidden agenda by Carbo, just playing the 12 best forwards he has going and at the moment Latendresse isn't one of them. No message at all.

Let's remember that Latendresse is only 19 yo, he is young. This is not a big deal, nor imo a wake up call. Just a fact of the the current situation.

I am sure when the season does end, Carbo will tell him in the exit meeting to work on his skating over the summer.

I don't think it will, he's got to realize that he hasn't been playing as well as he was earlier in the year. A couple of days watching from the pressbox might do him some good.

He's reminding me of Pierre Dagenais lately.

Exactly.

And I hope to hear a good response from him. Not "Well the coach thought I needed a rest...it's no biggy."

Sitting in the press box isnt the end of the world. Hes a rookie, it is expected that he is going to have to sit sometime during the course of the season.

Carbo made the right decision here even if it'll start some commotion within the French media. Right now Latendresse is the weakest link on the team and if Carbo sticks to his word in which he wants to have the best possible skaters in the line-up, then Latendresse is on the outside looking in. Obviously this was to be expected from a 19 year old. Maybe Carbo has been placing too much responsibility on this teenager's back recently and Guillame just can't pull the full workload. This can do him some good because lately he has been looking like the same player that was benched in the Canada World Junior games.

Odd? I'd say making a ton of cash, and playing for the Canadiens, is a dream.

Great move, and I believe Latendresse will respond well to it when he gets his next chance.

I'm guessing that means Higgy is in and Rivet will continue to wait. Thus far his spot is gone to Streit, no question about that. Tommorow's lines will then be.

Higgins Koivu Ryder
Samsonov Plekanec Kostytsin / Perezhogin (Pepe will take over if Kosty is struggling)
Murray Bonk Johnson
Perezhogin / Kosty Lapierre Milroy.

Well deserved for both Kosty and Milroy to stay in the lineup. Milroy has be very good defensively and killed penalties and he is a great positional player and works hard.

Nah... not at is age. I say he is tired. For a 19 years old who never played more than 65 games in a JUNIOR season, being now at game 62 with 20 games left is huge. Ask Saku about it.

That said, it will be good for him to rest for a game.

I'd put Perez back with Johnson and Bonk and make Murray play on the 4th...

I don't mind this move at all as long as it's just for a game or two. Gui hasn't been good at all lately, but I'd still much rather have him on the ice than Garth Murray.

As far as those lines are concerned, I like them. I hate seeing Perezhogin on the fourth line, but I really have nothing to complain about at all if he continues to get chances on the power play and Carbo keeps giving that line 10+ minutes of ice time. Normally I'd hate that, but I really think that combo has a chance to produce.

Carbo right from the start said Lats wouldn't play all the games. That he has so far is a measure of how successful Latendresse has been, but the plan was never to have him as an 82-game regular...

I have to disagree on that statement. I'm not a Latendresse hater but I have to say that Murray won himself a spot in the line-up based on the way he has been playing recently. How long will be maintain the position? It's difficult to say because he's the kind of player that doesn't show up all nights but in very recent games, he's been doing exactly what a 3rd or 4th line player should be doing; bringing energy, hitting, blocking shots, parking himself in front of goalies, getting garbage goals. I hate to drop the bomb on you but Latendresse hasn't been able to not even do one of those assignments. Obviously what i'm saying is that in the very short term, I would go with Murray. Gotta go with the hottest players to get every single point possible. But as soon as he slumps, come back with Gui.

Murray > Latendresse for the last couple weeks. The kid's tired and needs a break, period. A game or two from on high should do him good as he doesn't get the pampered "therapy days" that others enjoy. He's a kid, he's hit a wall, he needs a rest and then to gather himself up for the end of the stretch.

Great move Carbo and good luck to Gui !

BTW anyone else happy about that giant hit Ryder dished out last night ?

Good move. The kid is tired i think, he lacks the fire he had in the first few months. Life in the NHL for a 19-20 yr old can't be too easy, it's a whole new gear and a whole new enviroment/schedule.
