if flip was on the first unit that is 3 LH playmakers on the same unit. successful pp don't tend to have it that way.

and flip was doing better even before he was on the first pp unit in tampa. he was there a bit to start the season but was mostly on the second unit then. until stamkos got injured and even then he was a lot on the second unit. though they got a lot of ice time as they had pretty good success.

How many seasons does Flip have on his contract with Tampa?

Nobody mentioning the 12 game scoring streak? (5+11)

Always liked Fil but he is just getting better every day.

He has a very clear role for us right now, and it's a big one. No matter what the game situation is, you feel better when you see Flip on the ice. I'd love to see him paired with Stamkos somehow.

Remember, he had Teddy Purcell for a winger 3/4 of the year.

With that no goal call on Purcell, Filppula's point streak has ended.

That stinks. He also got robbed twice by Price.

So you're paying this guy 5 million dollars a year to be a fairly good center during the regular season before totally vanishing from the picture when the going gets tough? The worst plus/minus in the entire team (-4) and only one assist in four games despite spending a total of 85 minutes on ice.

Injured. No one else did anything good this playoff series either.

And he wasn't "fairly good," he was one of our most consistent and best players all season. Just what we needed defensively.

Do you even realise he wasn't 100% this series

Likely rushed back from injury to "help" the team. I would too if the other option was putting Killorn at center

The guy was playing hurt, he finished the season as the teams best scorer. Basing it on PPG average of course. Honestly, after seeing Flip's numbers this season, and what he can do on both sides of the ice, he should be making at least 5.5 million.

I just don't think anyone should be held hostage over a 4 game span, especially playing hurt, having to deal with biased refs, and not having your starting goal tender, where your back up is just not good. So many things went wrong in the playoffs, and to single out any one forward to me, is just not right.

No discussion on this guy since April? Even though he is 3rd in points within the team Just strikes a bit odd when nearly every other member of the team seems to have their thread on the first page of this forum.

Flip is great. Think he continues to be underrated or at least left out of the spotlight, but that can be a good thing.

You always know what you're going to get with Flip. I can't remember ever thinking he had a bad game.

They stand out when he has them (Edmonton, I think), because they're so rare.

We're just so used to him being consistent that it's easier to talk about everyone else. Flip just does his thing.

This guys needs to get more love. Likely, one of his best games of the season the other night, and hope that current top line continues to grow and build on that excellent game.

Also the idea of moving him is ridiculous at best. I strongly feel he will be here for his entire contract, unless we have major cap issues in his final season.

There were a few people just talking speculation, and I was not one of them, thought it was crazy. Him and Callahan have something going.

flipper was a good signing i'm fine with that contract I think some think he is going to put up 65 to 70 points every year. It's his two way game I wanted yzerman even explained that signing he is a way different player then vinny was.
