As much as I hate the idea of Tavares being anywhere other than Long Island, he would kill it on St. Louis.

Letang

Shero let's him throw away his defensive game out the window in search for points

If traded (won't be) the coach would smack his pinching ass.

I'd like to clarify I'd be okay with a third of his points dissappearing if it meant he would play average defense. And he can he did it 2 years ago

I can specifically remember interviews from a number of years ago where Shero talked about what he says to a player like Letang and Shero said he always tells Letang to focus on his defense and the offense will come because he's just so naturally talented offensively. It isn't Shero's fault. Bylsma is another story.

I do agree that Letang would excel for another team that has more of a bad cop coach that would hold him more accountable for bad decisions. The only way to weed out those bad decisions is through more accountability, which he's never going to get from Bylsma.

Here's a fun fact: Patrick Marleau has the exact same number of international gold medals as Rich Nash does.

Anyway, Yakupov and Gardiner are the first two players that sprang to mind. Put Yakupov on a team with a legitimate playmaking center and a different shut down line, and he'd blossom. Horrendous situation in Edmonton. And Gardiner would excel on a team that didn't spend two-thirds of every game in their own zone.

Another possibility: Erik Gustafsson (the Flyers' version.) Berube trusts him less than Richard Nixon trusted the news media, and he never gets to play, but in the right situation, he could be a very solid #4 guy.

I'll take a stab at it and go with Jakub Kindl. I just think he would never succeed with Babcock.

Colin Wilson would probably light it up if he was in a system that wasn't as defensively minded.

Plus I don't see how he would benefit from playing anywhere else. He's Pietrangelo's partner

Put Edler on a puck possession team like Detroit or Anaheim, and see him take off.

He's even been talked about as being the Blues best d-man and made people question Pietro's contributions for stretches.

Ya but he doesn't have Nash's size or strength. Plus Nash drives to the net with the best of them

Almost the opposite actually

The problem with Gardiner is he gets caught up in the play way too often. He is a great skater and puck handler, but then he ends up behind the play when he turns its over. Seriously I feel bad for whoever he partners with, he has got to be so pissed by the end of the night

One player on Philly that I predict WILL go on to have a great career with another team is Erik Gustafsson. Mark my words he'll be a very solid #3 PMD on another team. I just can't understand why he isn't given the chance here but once again after playing very well he finds himself sitting in the pi press box. Philly has a bad habit of trading young dmen for peanuts and them then becoming solid dmen for another team. He'll be a Denis Seidenberg for some team smart enough to poach him from us.

On a side note, why are people saying Drew Doughty? He doesn't need to go to another team, he just needs a partner who is sound defensively and can let Doughty open up his offensive game without fear of his partner dropping the ball. Put someone like Coburn beside Doughty and you'd be talking about him for the Norris.

Maybe read the rest of the list? Just like Bouwmeester, the rest of those players have gone to another team and excelled (at least in comparison to how they were doing before the move).

Bouwmeester was pretty terrible in Calgary. Seguin was a recent 2nd overall.

Won't lose you many games, but won't win you many either.

But I'm not sure why he's part of this thread. He's basically been the same player his entire career, though he used to be a 25 goal scorer, now is good for about 18 goals.

I hate that thought too, but I agree. You put Tavares on the Blues, that team would be absolutely terrifying for quite some time. Assuming it was just inserting Tavares without any personnel losses for St. Louis.
