Ward on the move?

Steve Zipay reports in his blog from this morning's practice. It seems Aaron Ward was pulled from the ice after being told that he would not be in the lineup tonight.

Zipay then speculates, mentioning a rumor of a three-way with San Jose and LA.

I don't see Aaron Ward being traded. I that's pure speculation.

i do see him being moved. i dont like the fact that he will be here next year. there are simply too many kids coming up who deserve a spot more than him.

with that said id rather take a draft pick than Norstrom or Sopel. but thats just me.

this sucks. i like ward, he's very talkative and i think he provides leadership. why cant we trade rosival or rachunek instead?

I think ward has served his purpose. to me hes been more responsible for Fedor Tyutins development than anyone elses. You could see Fedors game transforming into a more physical one with Ward than with Kaspar. Though Kaspar may have taught him the hip check, Wards taught him to take the body, and take it hard.

Time to move on, im ok with this.

What are Sopel's and Norstrom's contract status? If they're pending UFA's, then I like the idea of more flexibility for next year's blue line.

I'd have to think the Rngers would be getting a little something additional, like a mid-round pick or what not.

Pretty sure Norstrom has multiple years left.
Unsure about Sopel.
100% sure Norstrom has a NTC.

See, i dont get that. Rozsival has been arguably one of our most steady defenseman the entire year. I have no problems holding on to him, and let me also state that ive been a BIG TIME hater of his since last year. The way he has played this year has converted me.

Rachunek though I can understand people wanting to get rid of. He can be sloppy in his own end, and you question his decision making. However let me say hes also got the biggest upside of any our defenseman on the roster right now, including Tyutin. Hes got a great low shot, and hes not afraid to use it. Him I would hold on to, but thats just me and more of a gut feeling sort of thing.

If he was pulled off from practice then it likely he has been traded. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

According to the guy who is helping out Sam today:
Quote:
In other news, Renney expects to use all the same forwards and defensemen as Thursday, with one possible exception. Karel Rachunek has been dealing with some flu-like symptoms and the staff will decide on him when the team arrives at the Garden. The trainers were optimistic, Renney said, although I’m sure many of you would suggest that is a poor choice of words.

According to TSN....

Sopel got a 2 year deal from NYI in '05, so he is indeed a pending UFA.

Norstrom got a 2 year extension from LAK in 3/06, so he will have (1) full year left. 06/07 compensation is $4.25M.

kinda sounds like a smoke screen to me

btw let me state depending on the return i am NOT in favor of moving ward..... simply bc i love his grit and heart and i believe he is much more the kind of guy who can help our young defenseman grow rather then rosi malik ect

Hopefully this means the failed experiment of using two right handed shots on the ice at the same time has ended...

Aaron Ward has in my book been a huge mistake..
