Hey sens fan here,

Havent got a chance to watch the Oil Kings this season, what kind of player do you guys think Lazar can translate to in the NHL, and do you see him as a stable winger? or does he need to stay at centre?

I am expecting him to be a 20 goal scoring two way RW with intangibles and someone who can step on in the playoffs. is that too much to expect or too little?

Thanks A lot guys! and good luck in the playoffs

I think you will find most Edmonton fans LOVE Lazar. He is the kind of guy that every good team needs to have, and is a real spark plug on the ice. He will hit, fight (and is pretty damn tough), and score big goals in important situations.

If I were to compare him to current NHL players, I think he would be a mix of Dustin Brown and Mike Fisher. He might not have a super high-end offensive capability, but I would be comfortable projecting him to be a 20-25 goal, 50-55 point player in the NHL...with a bunch of intangibles.

Oil Kings come back to win game three 4-3 and take a 3-0 lead in the series.

Cracking game. Really exciting. Jarry wasnt great. Draisaitl was pretty good.

Brett Pollock looking like he could be a decent 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Hitmen in a bit of a spot of bother now. Kootenay takes game four 5-4. Backup Wyatt Hoflin comes in in relief and stops all 20 shots he faced. Jaedon Descheneau scored the winner with 51 seconds left in the third. Calgary simply has no answer for that top line, now with the series tied and a goalie the Ice may be able to count on, things could get real dicey for the Hitmen. Great series, great games, if you can catch the rest of the games you really should. They are being broadcast on Shaw, but it would be worth buying single games through WHL live.

I've been on the Brett Pollock hype train for a few months now.

Looks to be a sure Oilers pick if MacT can get some picks in the 2nd/3rd round.

How has G. Reinhart been in the series so far? Seems like he's engaged in a real battle with Draisaitl from what I've heard. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not what i think matter, but looking at the playoffs so far, i really like the chances of Edm.

If Calgary and Regina get their game going Edmonton may not have to leave the province until the final. (Provided they roll on.)

Looking at Kelowna, I don't think they have the firepower to keep up with Edmonton. (Edm went 2-1 in the season series, i believe.) Kelowna isn't scoring much against Eric Comrie, and when Jarry is playing well, he's the better goalie.

Portland doesn't have the goalie or back-end to play with Edmonton either, i think.

A lot of things still need to go well though, Jarry needs to play will, and the forwards need to get going. Really, the Oil Kings are up 3-0 on the strength of their D right now (both offensively, and defensively) which won't be enough to get to a memorial cup. But i like their chances more than last year. (Although i think they could've put up more of a fight last year against portland if they didn't get so beat up along the way, which could still happen this year.)

Reinhart has that big body presence on the ice. He's a monster. New York Islander fans should be VERY EXCITED. THIS KID IS THE REAL DEAL. WOW.

Kootenay has Calgary in major trouble. They can close the Hitmen out with a big game. Brandon and Kelowna can also close out their series tonight.

Kootenay knocked off the Hitmen tonight.

We face the Brandon Wheat Kings in round 2.

First two games Thursday night and Saturday afternoon.

Anyone see a replay of that controversial goal against the Hitmen that was ruled in with .1 second left in a period? Was it a good call or bogus?

Anyone get to see Sam play?

this draft was supposed to be a let down yet the top picks seem to be kicking some major ass.

I just love the way I saw Sam play in the WJC. Loved how Ekblad played also.

I haven't seen Draisitl and Bennett but this draft seems very promising.

The only controversy was the unprofessionalism by the play by play announcer who wouldn't let it go. He was so pro-calgary that it was actually embarrassed for him.

The calgary rink is an nhl rink, meaning the red light can't go on if there is no time left. Secondly the official clock has 100th of seconds the score clock only 10th's and the scoreboard clock wasn't the official clock.

The hitmen didn't complain about it because they knew it was a legit goal. The play by play goal wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the series.

Hey here, Jets/Wheat kings fan

You can expect a very young and fast Wheat Kings team that can score a lot. The down side to being so young is they often make defensive errors that wind up in the back of there net. They also have a goalie in Jordan Papirny that can steal games, and cost them, very streaky.

Who to watch for:

Jayce Hawryluk
Jesse Gabrielle
Ryan Pulock
Ryan Pilon
Richard Nejezchleb
Peter and John Quenneville

Good luck! I think it will be a good series!

This may be a bit cocky but I feel like the OK's punched there ticket to the finals when the Hitmen lost.

None of the teams in the East scare me.

Kootenay and Brandon aren't pushovers. Both are high offence teams which the OKs do sometimes have trouble with. That said, I think if they can make the WHL finals they have a good shot at representing the WHL in the MC. OKs handled Portland and Kelowna (one of which will likely be their opponent) pretty well during the regular season.

Victoria is no push over. They could give Portland a good run.

Although they downed them in 4 games, if Portland played the way they did against the Giants, they won't beat Victoria.

The way Kelowna played against Tri-City, they wouldn't beat Victoria either. That said, I think Portland and Victoria will beat up on each other a lot and Kelowna should probably win against the winner of that series. That said, whomever comes out fo the west will be in rough shape.

Similarly, last year, the Oil Kings had a few tough series, and especially against Calgary. They were so beat up by the time they played Portland that it was impossible to win.

The Hitmen, if you're a fan, play a feisty, in your face brand of hockey. If you're not a fan, they are the cheapest team in the league, taking shots after the whistles, high hits etc.

Since the Oil Kings don't have a power play this year, the Hitmen losing out makes life a lot easier for the Oil Kings.
Brandon is a pretty fun team though. I see why the Portland series is on shaw, as that will be amazing, but I wish the Brandon/Edm series was on shaw as that series will be very quick paced.

I can definitely see it being a reverse of last year with the OK's getting beat up and not standing a chance in the final. That WC is gonna be rough, and IMO, pickings for whoever comes out of the East.

Draisaitl named WHL player of the month. I have a feeling he'll be an Oiler draft choice.
