I haven't seen him this year so maybe he has gotten better. To me, Brewer has always been the Zubrus of defensemen. He's a guy who is a suited to a #4 role who you expect to be your #2 guy. I'm glad he's not coming here. Especially for that kind of dough.

He's been awesome for the last 35 games or so, and a big part of why the Blues went on a tear for much of the past 20 games. He was on the Team Canada Olympic starting six for a while, struggled for a few years (including early this year) but peaked at the right time for the past couple of months and looks very strong at the moment.

This is about right for his market value. Good retention move for the Blues.

How quickly everyone seems to forget how good Brewer was at a young age. He was a regular on the international teams for Canada. I think the trades had him rattled mentally.

This was a guy I had targeted earlier this year...and yeah I'm disappointed as well. Very good move by the Blues.

interesting you mention that....

last year people scoffed, mocked, otherwise said what a dumb move it was for the debbies to lock up white in the way they did.

brewer, now at this stage of the game gets 4.25 per, white gets 3.

smart move by lou to lock him up at a, now, quite friendly cap number.

Very true.

The reason why I really wanted the Caps to get Brewer was because he really hasn't turned all that promise into a great NHL season yet and I thought the Caps could get great value for him. But this season he has been really good, i am still a litte surprised the Blues resigned him, but I guess Brewer at the age of 27 still fits into any teams plans (rebuilding or not).

Brewer, Eric Johnson, and Jackman. If they can find a goaltender they will be in business defensivly. Actually don't they have a pretty good young goaltender?

edit: Marek Schwarz is the kid I am thinking about.
