Montreal is the one that gives Boston fits. Barring a healthy Jonathan Bernier playing out of his mind, Toronto has no chance with the Bruins; last year was a fluke and shame on the Leafs for not finishing it off when they had the chance.

Chances are it'll be us vs. MTL. Maybe Detroit sneaks up on one of us, miraculously (wouldn't put it past them). Toronto's going to be lucky to hold that 8th spot.

In order for us to lose a playoff spot, we would have to first get bumped by Detroit and/or Toronto, and then also fall behind the #3 team in the Metro division (since Metro teams would otherwise simply leapfrog the wild card and land in the Metro top 3). It'll take an epic collapse. ...Not that we're not capable of such things.

I mean, I'm paranoid enough to talk about not assuming anything until I see an x next to TB's name in the standings, but there's a reason sportsclubstats says 99.9%. 96 points, or thereabouts, is the fail-safe threshold. I'd be shocked if this team doesn't get 96 points.

but there's still games to be played and if they hit the skids (God forbid), then anything can happen.

If Bish isn't the Bish of the first half of the season, I fear we will lose. Price is a great positional goalie. Never out of place. And if our D doesn't get their **** together... idk. Habs/Bolts really is a toss up. Definitely won't be a sweep. I'm not expecting the Cup, it'd just be nice to make it past the first round. Anything more than that is a great bonus to a surprise season anyway.

Bernier back in net against the Leafs. And the Leafs are playing like the Leafs. Bernier, unfortunately for us, is doing cartwheels in net and it's still 0-0. Fun to watch though if any of you are able.

Toronto lost. Looks like MTL is going to take the W tonight.

That just means we'll be 2 points behind with 2 games in hand. Our fate is in our hands. If we win, we keep 2nd. We don't need to depend on anyone losing.

It certainly leaves room for error though.

You're right. But there's no room for error in the playoffs, may as well start playing with that frame of mind now.

Pretty good night for the Lightning all in all. MTL won, but it's looking like that's turning into a race for home ice advantage with them. Det and Tor both lost.

logjam of four teams sitting on 80 points right now. Washington didn't deserve their point but whatever.

the montreal thing price got hot right now and for them that is good I dont think its retainable so this is good for us as it looks more and more like whom we will face. Hopefully bishop gets a couple days off at end of year and gets hot to start playoffs

Habs fan here, just came over to see what you guys were saying, seeing as it looks likely we will be playing each other...

Im honestly very scared haha, I know the Habs can win but Bishop scares me, Habs always run into a hot goalie in the playoffs and forget how to score

Should be a really tight series though, I'd say 6 or 7 games and could go either way, Really comes down to goaltending for both teams imo..

I'd say we've seen the last of Toronto. Epic collapse.

Bishop is scaring us more then he can possibly scare you. He's been anything but hot recently. On the other hand Price and the Hans are hot so it's gonna be a tough matchup.

I'm still not so sure about that. Their schedule eases up in April; Boston comes to town, yeah, but there are a lot of winnable games for them. Besides, as we've seen with the Caps of late, even though they're in a killer stretch of their schedule, they fended it off and have picked up 6/8 points. Toronto is behind the 8-ball but I wouldn't write them off just yet.

I'm mostly writing them off because they've only got 8 games left, while the teams ahead of them have 10. ...And they're playing like puke.

The wheels have fallen off. They'll need a lot of help from Detroit and/or Columbus in order to make it. And Washington could still steal the spot. I think Toronto's done.

So with my math, we need 5 win and one OT lose out of 10 games, assuming everyone other team wins out the rest of the season. Very doable.

Epic rant taking place by Sid on Tim & Sid right now.

"Alex Steen was like a Hall of Famer!"

Ripping into Phaneuf pretty hard now. Funny.

Mind you, I'm not giving Toronto favorable odds or anything, but they slumped hard in December and then caught fire in January. They still have a chance, but it's true that the GP is really biting them hard at this point. Two games in hand for the Wings and Jackets and one in hand for the Capitals; big problem going forward for them.

Toronto currently has a 24.6% chance. They need to get 12 of their last 16 points to even have a reasonable 75% chance.

none of the four have that clear of a path.

Columbus has hardest schedule many back to backs most playoff teams. I actually think they are best team of the bunch right now but saw the islander game off back to back lol.

Detroit way injured datsyuk skated today if they have him for full two weeks they get in.

Toronto I dont know how you turn this around and go like 6 and 2 at this point? They could but I question it for sure.

Washington is up and down night a day etc. Have the scoring to get there need good goaltending.

Toronto has easiest schedule but has detroit and montreal and I think us 1 time maybe two.

They lose two of those? They should be toast at that point.

We might have a couple games where can rest those games are columbus and washington lol doubt we would do much of a favor in that situation.

Is very bad odds on Toronto. I kinda feel for them.

They were talking hiring Boucher think that would be a decent move problem is their forwards play full court press their defenders are too stupid most times to not play one end to other end they dont dump the puck make teams work enough even with leads mostly going head on all in.

That mentality has to change maybe new coach maybe many new faces. Not sure. Yet this is how they played all year so hats off to the leafs for getting this far and letting teams outshoot them by a third all season
