Thomas Vanek isn't the dominant force we expected him to be. (Update: sick/hurt?)

Pacs, Chucky, and Vanek will put up points for us. 2 legit goals scorers and a potential star on our team..
I noticed this yesterday too.

When we're in the offensive zone we have a tendency to look at the guy with the puck, but if you look in front of the net Vanek is always there battling. Then at the right moment he'll back out by about 5 feet and wait for the one timer.

Very smart player in terms of positioning, one of the best on our team. He's clearly a bit tired after a long season and 3 NHL teams though.

I think he'll step it up in the playoffs.

That UNDERRATED OVERRATED.... Discussion is so painfull to read.

He is under the best 30 Point Scorer that season , he played in 3 teams,
in Moment.
Sabres:13 GP 9 points +/- +5
Islanders:47 GP 44 Points +/- +4
Montreal: 10 GP 6 Points +/- 0
Every season 20 or More Goals every Season 21 or more Assists.
Little bit better and he is going to the Ovechkin,St.Louis P.Kane Level.
He is definetely one of the best PPG Scorer World Wide in moment. And he can do every moment in a Game a "deadly" Pass or a nice Move to score a Goal.

What I like about him is that he's unpredictable. What we know is that he's a good scorer but looks like also have good vision and good passing skill. So when he has the puck, it doesn't mean that he will shoot it, he can find that guy and make a tape to tape pass to that player... or something I'm quite impress to see each time, is that he quickly changes direction and find himself in a very good position to score. His ability to find that small opening on the ice is incredible.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect Vanek to be a 'dominant force'...that's not the type of player he is

But in the offensive zone, he's got great instincts...I really can't remember a player who's played for the Habs who was as good as he is at being around the puck and being in scoring positions quite like Vanek does. Especially not at his size...

In his own zone & in the neutral zone...it can be an adventure. But from the faceoff dots to the goaline, he's a poison for goalies

I'd sign him but I have a feeling he is going to want 7-8 mill and PK is first priority. Gionta is off the books though so that money is going to one of them right?

Even when he isn't scoring the opponents have to notice his presence and not double team another Hab.

He missed so many chances yet he finishes with 1 g 2 a, thats why Vanek is so good. A a shot, pass or deflection will give a goal to his team

Ok I can sign with the Wild and 1. hope to have chemistry with some of their players, 2. hope their goalie can carry us or I can sign in Montreal and 1. I know I have chemistry, 2. I know this team has a future with a lot of core pieces and 3. I have more fans at away games then I used to have at home games in Buffalo and NYI... HHMMMMM tough choice me thinks

I don't understand these so called analysts that are so surprised by Vanek's playmaking/passing abilities. I didn't particularly watch Buffalo play over the past years, all I did was watch highlights, but I knew he was more than just a goal scorer.
Sometimes I wonder if those guys even watch hockey..

Vanek proved how dominant he can be on the DD goal. Look at the way he separated Kronwall off the puck then make that slick no look pass to DD.

We played him about 40 times in his career, weren't they watching?

Where to start, really.

he IS dominant. I appreciate so much every moment of him in a habs uniform ... Feels good to have a very decent top 9 heading into the playoffs. Vanek is good yes because he can score...he plays big, protects the puck well, is fast for his fram has hands, vision ...but most importantly he makes his teammates better. tomashe , max and Daaaauuuvid are having a great time.
