It's absolutely hilarious how much abuse you go through. I admire how you're unfazed despite of it.

I find it less than amusing that inconsistancy is the only argument against JR and yet he can't even play 1 game here while those above him who are more inconsistant and make 4 times as much money are just fine in the eyes of MacT and Dawgbone.

It's not exactly correct to say:

He's been called Hockey Jesus (sarcastically), a MacT clone, the iraqi information minsiter and so on. Don't get me wrong, I disagree with him on his "favorite" points, but he does get alot of unwarranted abuse. Maybe you didn't mean to do that, but that's what it sounded like.

No, but Ryan Smyth has proven it over his career though. Don't get me wrong, he needs to be better and all that, but he has at least earned some leeway because of what he has done in his career in Edmonton.

That's why he gets a longer leash than say a guy like Chimera does. And don't forget, Chimera scored 14 goals last year in limited playing time, so you can't just wash him away without a 2nd and 3rd chance either... it's not like the guy is 27 or anything like that.

I'm not as perturbed that Rita didn't play. I just wonder why he was brought up in the first place. I mean, was there even a reason given for why they called him up, made him miss what, a few games with the RR, and have him sit inthe pressbox? I'm glad Bishai got to play and I 'm not gonna say that Rita should have played in his place, but I find the whole situation bizarre. Rita gets called up, MacT more or less says it's his last chance, and Rita doesn't play for 3 games with the big club.

Yeah there is something queer about the whole thing isn't there?

maybe we should call him Jani Reddenbocker as all he did during his stay was eat popcorn.

I don't know why they called up anyone other than Bishai, honestly. Izzy didn't get hurt unil last Sat and Rita was already up by then. York's out and you need a centre so yeah call up Mike B. Just isn't a lot of other depth down there at the pivot.

But why bring up Rita and then not play him the first game after he showed up? But the kicker was not playing him once Izzy went out. Yes it's not time to discard Chimera but the Oilers invested a lot more time and money and prestige in Rita and it's about asset management too. Put the word out he might be available and then play him 10 games. If other GM's like him, they'll call and if he just happens to play well, then you decided if you want to pull him back.

Agreed - I don't understand why Rita really got called up, UNLESS...
<conspiracy mode>
They called Rita up to light a fire under Chimera.
</conspiracy mode>

Really, it didn't make any sense this time. Or maybe it was just to let Rita know they were aware of him and brought him up to reinforce the fact that he's still on their radar... ??
