Can we at least dress Gus as the 7th defenseman just in case? Let him take some of Timonen's regular shifts and still have Kimmo on the PP and for the offensive zone starts?

They don't play Gus when other defensemen **** the bed and they go on a losing streak, they don't play him when multiple players are hurt (Grossmann and Kimmo)... so why exactly do they still have him on the roster?!!

They should have flipped Gus for a mid round pick or half decent forward prospect at the deadline. Would have made more sense for both sides

Toronto's losing streak doesn't really infuse as much confidence as it should. Considering the Flyers are experts at the art of breaking other teams/players' cold streaks. Sensing that just that might happen.

Flyers lines: 19-28-93; 15-10-17; 24-14-12; 36-40-18

God please let this be real. Berube might be slightly competent after all, now just Gus in somewhere and we have a chance.

This would be what we all wanted. Sit vinny down and stop him from messing our second line up more. Get raff in in there with more minutes!

Hopefully this sticks and vinny is gone this summer!!!

Not sure but I took his comment to be sarcastic in nature. Timo was dreadful last game. He needs a rest. This may be a great time and team to do it against considering our remaing matchups.

For ease of glance,

19 Scott Hartnell - 28 Claude Giroux - 93 Jakub Voracek
15 Tye McGinn - 10 Brayden Schenn - 17 Wayne Simmonds
24 Matt Read- 14 Sean Couturier - 12 Michael Raffl
36 Zac Rinaldo - 40 Vincent Lecavalier - 18 Adam Hall

Vinny getting the Richards treatment. Worked for LA, let's hope it works here, too.

Only problem is Hall is a lot better at faceoffs
I still think Vinny isnt a 100%, his back is the problem and will be dealt with in the summer

I'm all for changing things up and moving Vinny off the 2nd line, but I don't think replacing him with McGinn is really going to change anything.

I don't like McGinn much but anything other than Vinny there is an improvement. The victory I'm taking out of this is that Berube is actually capable of making changes when needed... or more accurately, a couple months after they're needed. Better late than never. Baby steps.

This could work. Main impetus is to get Raffl's speed on the checking line vs. JVR-Bozak-Kessel line.

McGinn might look good in this role, and Vinnie at 4C shows that Berube is committed to having a good 4th line that will get some ice time.

If it's not working, easy enough to return to previous lines too.

We aren't talking skill for skill even at this point. Vinny is a line killer at the moment. He can't make or receive a pass worth a ****, can't get open in order to make a shot or just make a shot in general, is always out of position on D. With him gone that line will have a lot more time of possession in the o zone which is what they need for their skill set to work. Not saying that schenn and simmer haven't been bad and off respectively but this is going to be big for them.

It has been a couple months but just like the riche situation you can just put star players, or even top 6 players, on the 4th line. Thats not good for a coach to ever do. You have to give them a shot and then put them there if they don't get it after a few months.

True, and if the Flyers had beaten the Rangers, this would've been more of a trap game.
As it is, the Leafs are desperate, bordering on panic. The Flyers will be hungry and should be ready.

Hard to say what will happen. Hope the Flyers don't spot them a couple goals early again. I'd like to see a return to the form of the recent streak. Score early, keep the pressure on and check them into oblivion. 60 minutes is what it takes.

Im pulling for it big time as well. He makes a lot of money to be a ineffective 4th liner. If NYR could get a former first rounder current stud form MTL I know we could get something good for vinny.

How many minutes did Gus play when the Flyers beat the Pens (twice), Blackhawks, Blues, and Stars?

This could work. Get Vinny back to playing C and hopefully get some mojo back in his game. Tye brings more speed and grit to the second line, and Raffl on the 3rd is awesome.

Tonight has the possibility of being fun.
