It looks like there isn't much to do tourism wise in Saguenay or Trois-Rivières before June. I'm leaning more towards Gatineau for the tail end of my trip, May 1-5, since I'm really interested in Gatineau Park. Any suggestions?
Don't know much about Gatineau Park, but once you're in the 'hood, you may want to drive around Ottawa. The parliament buildings are beautiful and the city has some nice areas.

Quebec City -- the old section -- is spectacular. As close to Europe as you'll see on this continent.

Weather in mid-April to May should be decent for walking.

Just bought tickets for Osheaga this August. Can anyone recommend me a good hotel to stay at? Something relatively close to the festival that would shuttle back and forth?? Also not too expensive with free parking?

Add Kijiji to where to find tickets, I think more people put them there than Ebay.

coming to town this weekend for the Ottawa game. taking my girlfriend to her first ever NHL game (and in the best possible arena to boot). I've been to 7 games at the Bell, but haven't been in about 10 years.

traveling with VIA Rail, $88 round trip from Toronto was too good a deal to pass up.

I was wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for a vegetarian (which the GF is). bonus points if they are Japanese or Indian.

cheers!

Check out the first page of this thread for more suggestions but here are my main recommandations:

Santropol for an afternoon sandwich after a morning of walking on the Plateau

Chu Chai on St-Denis for dinner
Santa Barbara 436 St-Zotique for dinner as well... mostly a vegetarian restaurant. It usally has a least 1 meat friendly option

Aux Vivres

Any good italian restaurant too
Chez Roberto. Great Italian restaurant and great gelato. 2221 Bélanger East (between Iberville & De Lorimier)

La bottega in Little Italy. One of the best pizza's in MTL

Moishe's is the best.

But Montreal's not a great city for steaks. And I wouldn't recommend any of the steakhouses other than Moishe's.

none, there are mobile restaurants though. This is where you can find them beginning the 20th of June.

-Mont-Royal Belvedere in front of the chalet.
-Mont-Royal park near the statue of George Etienne Cartier.
-Square Victoria
-Cité du Multimédia
-Victoria street near McCord Museum
-McTavish street close to McGill
-Place Émilie-Gamelin
-Peel street between Notre-Dame et Saint-Jacques.

There is a rotation of only 17 cantine trucks.

There also pretty expensive about 10-15$ for a meal

There's a bio-vegan-glutenfree place, it's called Crudessence, I've never been so can't comment on quality, but I hear it's pretty good.

Yeah Ive been there when I dated a Vegan, not too bad, raw vegan food I believe.

Anybody worried about this NDG Westmount Turcot interchange nightmare, how the hell am I supposed to get to work near the airport.

Queue du Cheval is (was?) a nice steakhouse.
Gibby's in the Old Port.
Forty Westt in the west island wasn't at all bad either.
Moishe's too of course.

So far I go to the Keg Steakhouse & Grill for my steaks. They got 2 locations in Montreal. One in downtown area and the other is in Old Montreal.

Right, and the Keg's fine for a generic steak, but if we're talking best steaks in the city, it doesn't enter the discussion.

Maybe the underage ones?

Won't lie though, I love Brutopia Monday night trivia. Led a pretty popular team when I lived in Montreal, the infamous Team Quail.

Been there once with my friends.. 9-10 guys drinking beer enjoying a steak. It was after a Habs win against the Sabres (6-1 I think). The EGG line were GOAT that game and I bought a Galchenyuk t-shirt between the 2nd and 3rd.

Atfer the game we went to that Madisons. A guy in a suit gave me a tap on the shoulder (I had my Galchenyuk shirt). That guy was Trevor Timmins. He was there with his kids and his wife. He literraly told us : " Hey that Alex guy is not bad eh." with a big smile on his face and a martini in his hand lol. He started asking us questions about our favorite habs players etc. Hockey related questions.

We were all voiceless. We are from Abitibi in the north of Quebec and it was our first habs game... Like that wasn't cool enough he told us that Gallagher was in the "VIP" section and that he would take us to meet him. The best 50$ ever spent.

It was awesome.

For the food part.. meh it's good. nothing amazing but I enjoyed my steak. Nice big portions too. All in all not too shabby.

Regarding Madison's, I'm looking for a place to eat after the game on April 10th. Are a lot of people there in sporting attire or are they dressed up? I don't want to stick out but I figure a place so close to the Bell would have some patrons in jerseys.

Queue du Cheval is now the beer market....went the other night, never again. 32$ for 2 beers in a bar full of toronto wannabees.

Well I'm pretty sure you go there in a bathing suit with an A-shirt no one would care. Madison's are a chain of restaurants, they give the appearance of being high-class but they are really more a nicer version of la cage aux sports.

If you don't know la cage aux sports, its basically a sports restaurant for the whole family.

If you dont want to go too high class I'd recommend Baton Rouge instead, which is still in the same category but with better food.

Been in your city, first time, since Saturday. Can not say enough good about your city and how nice the people are.

Pens fan and people have been great about it even with good natured ribbing.

Just wanted to give you guys thumbs up for one of the best cities I have visited, and we travel a lot.

Staying at the Sofitel. May be the nicest hotel I have stayed at. Certainly the friendliest staff. We like nice dining so tried the tasting menus at Renoir and Maison Boulud our first two nights, going to try BeBeaver Hall at the end of the week.

In Old Montreal today. Writing from bistro there. Was going to spend one day in old Montreal but may spend two. Girlfriend doing a lot of shopping.

Watching a Pens game at a sports bar tonight.
