All I know is this:

1. Jarnkrok is on a point-per-game pace in the NHL.
2. The Predators have yet to lose when he scores a goal in regulation.

List goes on and on.

Yes Poile was excited for Craig Smith, but that goes to our lack of talent in the system, not the overwhelming talent that Craig Smith was.

He's turned out well under Trotz.
So he's turned out well under Trotz? So you're saying he does develop players which makes your earlier comments about him teaching Weber his slap shot a bit of a paradox. Did Weber come in to the league with the big booming shot he has now? No. It was further developed over time. Did Smith come in to the league a 20 goal scorer out of the box? No. It took time. You just said he's turned out well under Trotz. That either means Smith has done all the work or Trotz had some play in it. Which is it because I'm curious what your thoughts are on it.

Jarnkrok may well be the biggest coup DP has pulled off. If we could just fast forward 2 years and FF develops.

Shouldn't this discussion be about Iron Hook? Not Smiths Development and whether Trotz kills offensive talent. I'm sure there are other threads for that talk.

He has looked really good. Nice to see another player with creativity and sees the ice well!
His goal was a beauty, his assiss are all secondary assists but has set up some nice plays that did not connect.

I think if nothing else he is going to end up being solid, even if he's not a superstar. The one thing I've really seen he needs to work on is his faceoffs, other than that I'm fairly impressed.

We will see what happens when he has to face a full season grind though. Jones has definitely felt it this season.

Yeah Jones-y is feeling the full season, but he'll be fine. I can see Calle as a really solid 2nd line C, like a 50-60 point guy and great defensively. Even though we need a #1 C, we need a player like that too. Just need to draft Draisaitl or Nylander for the top C position in the future..

He had just 12 min of ice time yesterday. He looks solid defensively, goes to the right spots but his line didnt really connect last night. This summer will be important to him, he needs to get stronger and preferably faster. In the long run he will need to learn how to use his great hockey IQ with the toolbox of skills that he got. Could end up a great player but also just become a solid player with a great defensive game. (more likely)

Just having watched Nashville games since he joined the big club it sure looks surprising they arent in a play off spot. The team kind of needs a top scorer or two and if it can find that it could really be enough for deep runs for the cup.

It's been that way for a long, long time. Each offseason we say the same things.

I see. With Forsberg you might have a good high end scorer in a couple of years but im not sure where Poile going to find another steal. Also, you will run out of Legwands to deal too, which doesnt help if you are looking for hidden/wasted talents in other teams systems. There is always the draft...

The team does have Weber and Josi who are really good + Rinne. Your first line looks a lot like a normal 2nd line so you are basically missing 2-3 top 3 players. Not an easy catch...

Detroit punches a ticket to the playoffs tonight with a point in Pitt. We get their 2nd round pick. Iron Hook and a 2nd for Leggy. Nice!

Well, now we want them to lose as quickly as possible anyway. Higher pick!

their pick won't be determined by their playoff success or failure unless they make the conference finals. So we want them to finish as the playoff team with the lowest point total and lose in round one or two. If that happens they will pick in the 15 slot and Legwand will have netted us Jarnkrok and the 45th pick… not too shabby

I'm a little lost. These two points are contradicting eachother.

I think the point was that as long as they are knocked out in one of the first 2 rounds, their pick will be determined by points not playoff success.

He has 18 G and 21 A in 62 games. He had a dry spell with Grand Rapids but has looked very good in Milwaukee. Even with the slump, that is 0.69 pts a game.
