Philadelphia Flyers have good crop of defensive prospects in NCAA and Europe

The Philadelphia Flyers have several prospects, mostly defensemen, who have turned in strong seasons in Europe and the NCAA this year.

At the NCAA level, Shayne Gostisbehere, Michael Parks, and Nick Luukko will play for a national championship. They are just three of Philadelphia's prospects who turned in strong NCAA seasons, as Cornell's Reece Willcox also used his second collegiate season to develop.

Robert Hagg and Valeri Vasiliev are two Flyers prospects who found significant playing time in European pro leagues.

The key now is to keep adding to it. We finally have a foundation...DON'T STOP.

We just need to hope that Poile gets fired and then we hire him. Let our scouts draft a F in the 1st round since we never seem to miss. Then let Piole take over for the rest of the draft and add d-man.

Does Nick Luuko actually have a chance at the NHL? I kind of assumed drafting him was a good ol' boy type favor.

Extremely slim chance, like 5% chance that he even becomes a mediocre #6.

Outside of Gostisbehere (who I think will sign after his season) I am interested in to see what will happen with Vasiliev & Parks.

Parks was very impressive vs. Wisconsin. He scored 1 goal and had 1 assist.

I think he has the potential to be a Matt Read-esque player.

I have not seen Vasiliev even once, so I can not comment on him.

Fredric Larsson just made the jump to USHL from a Swedish junior league. He wasn't in a top league in Europe and isn't in the NCAA so can see why he didn't make the list but he's an honorable mention. He's got just as much of a chance at the NHL as someone like Luukko IMO.

Decent chance he won't be Flyers property after June 1st.

He was drafted from Europe though so doesn't the 4 year rule apply?

He was drafted before the new CBA was in place.

Sucks for him. Yeah, I agree. I can't see him being signed.
