I am very pleased with the way that Zhitnik played this evening. It seemed that every time I looked he was on the ice. Did anyone else notice how much better Havelid played tonight with Zhitnik as his partner. Not as good as we have seen, but better than he has been the last few weeks. I think Zhitnik is just what the doctor ordered for our PK and to help improve Havelid's play.

Tkachuk did a good job tonight. He won a lot more face offs than he lost and you can't ask for much more than that. He did the dirty work for Kovy and a couple more games together and you'll see the passes connecting instead of just missing like they did tonight. I think Belanger is really starting to get comfy between Kozlov and Hossa.

Good win tonight, the team looked better at even strength and on special teams and you can't ask for more than that.

Loved the new additions tonight, Tkachuk won 10 of 14 faceoffs, nice to have someone besides Holik who can do that. Belanger seems to be developing good chemistry with Hossa/Kozlov, Zhitnik led the team logging almost 27 minutes of ice time and looked really good doing so. And yeah, Doc Emerick annoys me too, think it's just his voice. I've always been a Gary Thorne fan, myself.

Just thought I'd throw these out there.

Alexei Zhitnik
Points: 1
Assists: 1
Shots: 1
TOI: 26:45 (Most of any Thrasher)
PP: 7:24 (5 seconds behind Havelid for most)
PK: 4:21 (Most of any Thrasher)
Blocked Shots: 3 (Most of any Thrasher)
Hits: 2

Keith Tkachuk
Shots: 2
TOI: 16:49
PP: 4:34
Faceoffs: 10/14 (71%)

I think it's evident by the stats. They don't tell the whole story though. Not at all.

Belanger was one of four Thrashers forwards who played 20+ minutes, he had more icetime than Kovalchuk and Kozlov.

Fully agree. Still couple of hazard playes but much better than lately. But Sutton is still skating after the puck like small dog is chasing a ball. But overall a step to right direction, let's Friday game at Philips be even better than this one. Then it's cool to beat Carolina on Sunday. It's good to say it when it is possible: Thank you, DW.

Let's hope someone takes him (or Sutton) and falls for it.
Like I always say, there's a sucker born every minute.

I'll bite:

If we lose De Vries, Atlanta's defense will have the same woes as before over enough time, because someone will have to play above their heads. They'll be sllightly better because of Zhitnik addition, but not by much because who is really going to take his spot? Honestly now? I doubt this team can pony up anything else that is worthwhile for other teams desires to get someone equal to or better than De Vries at this point in time. Furthermore, don't really want the team to give up anymore picks at this point, at least that's how I see it.

I'm not crazy over De Vries, but in my humble opinion, he is being slightly undervalued here....

Tkachuk and Zhitnik looked really good for a first game, woohoo! But how about the other new guy Belanger? Looks like a really good move by DW!

Belanger fit that line perfectly tonight - I hope he can keep it up if Hartley keeps the lines relatively consistant. He looked like totally a different player from the games prior. He's like Metropolit but better all around.. thats a good sign indeed...
