I think we have a keeper in Andrighetto. I think he may even be an AHL rookie of the year candidate. But let's step back a second.....on the habs this year? If he were on any other team we'd simply be seeing him as a 40pt AHL'er, which isn't overly phenomenal.

We need to take our sweet azz time with him. We can't screw this up.

Sounds like they plan on signing Vail.
I don't see that necessarily. Could be either way. "We want to sign you, but will use those 8 games to see if we are right...." or "We don't want to sign you, but will give you 8 games to make us change our mind". We'll see.

Considering how quickly Habs signed the other guys I think there is some truth to the rumours from a while back that the Habs might not be signing Vail.

Who else are they going to have with the team as extras ?

Dumont ? Blunden ?

Andrighetto might not see a game, but once the Dogs' season ends he'll be called up to be a sort of taxi squad imo.

I'd be mad if didn't sign Vail after some of the other crap we've signed.

The worst we signed is probably Fournier and Nevins, not exactly crap but Vail is better then both of them.

They are different players. Guys that bring size, physicality, toughness and grit. I like those two signings.

If they don't sign Vail it's not because there is no room, you can let guys like Czarnik St.Pierre Blunden Tarnasky Delmas Dubnyk walk.

And we should let all of them walk. The team desperately needs a veteran overhaul.

St. Pierre is the veteran player we need, but with a better supporting cast.

Blunden and Tarnasky are alright.

Delmas isn't even there and Czarnik doesn't even play.

St.Pierre has not been that good, was even a healthy scratch at one point. I think he'll go KHL or elsewhere in Europe.

I don't understand how/why the Habs would not be falling over themselves in the rush to sign Vail... He's got size and offensive skill both of which the team desperately needs. Whats the problem, why play hardball with him?

Vail should be signed & let Crisp play his last year in junior. Thrower will be in Hamilton next year as well.

Dietz, Ellis, Thrower, Pateryn, Tinordi, Beaulieu. Obviously some will be in the NHL but I'm curious if Pateryn will have to clear waivers next year.

I believe Crisp will be in AHL. He needs to be challenged physically by man instead by teenagers.

Still leads the team by what, 10 points ?

Needs another AHL veteran who has skill.

I don't understand about Vail either. He's got size, can put points up on the board. I haven't watched him play any games or anything but wasn't he drafted because he could play center on a 3rd or 4th line at some point. I thought that was what they projected him to be. So unless he has attitude problems or is lazy or some other major character flaw, I don't see why they just don't sign him. Montreal seams very reluctant to signing guys over 6 feet but go out of their way to sign the 5'2" crew.

You can add Nygren to that group also.

People needs to stop freaking out about Vail. He'll get signed, there's no doubt about it. It's not because they don't sign him right away that they won't sign him.

They just want to see him play a bit, they want him to play great hockey, to show them he deserves a contract, that's it.

Yea they should.

The organisation needs to trust their young d-mans. No more veteran with one year deal like Murray, Bouillon or Weaver.

Trust the our prospects.

He only has 5 more points than Androghetto and he's played 8 more games

You guys really want to dress 3-4 rookie d-man with the big club next year!?

As good as they are, they're still rookie.

Unless you want us to pick McDavid or Eichel at the 2015 draft... I don't see it happening.

Two at a time is more likely to happen.

Habs

Tinordi
Nygren (only because he doesn't want to play in Hamilton... Beaulieu is probably the best option)

Dogs
Beaulieu
Pateryn
Ellis
Dietz
Thrower
Bennett

Unless you send 2 of them to the ECHL, you have 6 young/rookie Dman. This is why I think 1 or 2 of them will be traded this summer...

It makes no sense to have that many good prospects if you can't develop all of them properly.
