Who would you want to be coach?

I here enough fire Dan Bylsma rants on here to make one go crazy, so who do you think would make a good fit as the new coach of the penguins? if the this is true I would like to see Adam Oates http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...202101970.html

Scotty Bowman, even if he's 87654468 years old.

Really though, I don't watch any other team closely enough to tell you much about most other coaches.

Ideally? Dave Tippett.

Of those available? Probably Laviolette.

Does it matter? Any coach is going to be turned into EJ anyway.

I wanted Dave Tippett before he signed his extension with Phoenix

Out of the coaches available? Peter Laviolette and Guy Boucher come to mind.

I wouldn't mind promoting Jacques Martin either.

I would just die if i needed to look at the ugly evil elf face of Oates behind the bench every night.

Give Martin a shot. Lavs would be a decent choice if hiring outside for the head coaching job (leaving Martin an assistant, etc). Would be interesting to hear his pressers coming here, after all the baggage from Philly. "Yah I hated the Penguins as a team, but I'm here now... a Penguin now, and we're going to take this team a different direction from that other guy. I didn't like him much; you should've gotten rid of him sooner."

Not interested in Oates or Lavi.

Maybe now that Dave King has gotten back in to the ring with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl he'll want to return to coaching again.

Maurice hasn't signed an extension with the Jets. He might be interesting.

Tocchet and Billy G. would be interesting choices for assistants. Because it's not just Bylsma that needs to go, Granato and Reirden should be shown the door along with him.

If Trotz is out in Nashville, and Shero is still GM here but Disco is out, what are the odds he isn't Shero's top target?

I'd love that. These are guys who would light a fire under their players imo.

I will stop watching. I'm serious. Will not pay an extra $300 a season on my TV bill to watch Barry Trotz coach this team. I mean he does OK with limited resources in Nashville, but he's not the right guy for this particular job.

Agree that Billy G might make a good assistant coach.

but you didn't answer my question. Do you think Shero would pick any coach in the league over Trotz if given the choice? I don't.

Lavs knew how to beat us, I bet he might have some ideas how to fix us.

Guerin has no coaching experience and Tocchet was a horrible coach. We don't need another cheerleader. We need some who understands the X's and O's and will hold players accountable.

I wouldn't want either as a head coach, but as assistants I think they'd be better than what we have now, hands down.

I think Hynes would have a realistic shot at the job and I like him a lot. He's obviously done great work with the guys who have been called up this year and did a phenomenal job coaching WBS back from a 3-0 deficit against the Providence Bruins in that playoffs last year. If you're going to dismiss him because he uses Bylsma's system, I think you're way too eager to let go of a definite asset and a good coach because of an organizational preference that might not reflect the guy's actual philosophy.

If we would have fired Disco, I'd have liked to see the assistants go too. I think Billy G and Tochett would be awesome interim assistants. I don't know if they have enough x's and o's to be full time coaches. But right now, this team needs to fix its attitude and mindset more than its x's and o's.

Rick Tocchet. John Hynes would be a solid candidate as well. Trust me, if you don't like the soft mentality that Pittsburgh already has, then you will dislike Jacques Martin.

This 100%

Also, Laviolette coached 2 teams to a Stanley Cup Final, teams that he stayed with all year. Not taking over for someone else using their system, Laviolette coached 2 Cup Final teams using HIS system.

I'm thinking Billy Guerin with Tocchet anf Gary Roberts to round out the staff.

However, I'd settle for Gomer Pyle, Forrest Gump, and Joe Dirt.
