Avery the Reason for Dupuis' Leave ?

This is pure speculation but could he be, remember his "anti-french" comments last year... and it makes no sense that Sather deal a prospect for him and then go get another one out of him... think about it...

Seeing how they got another French Canadia player back, I'd say probably not.

And Dupuis was not dealt for a prospect, he was dealt for Adam Hall.

actually, i would reccomend that you think about it.

what good does dupuis do on this team? he is a free agent at the end of the year and does not fit into the team's plans.

further, the prospect they traded for was french canadian, which contradicts your entire argument.

nothing to see here... move along...

I'd say it was more along the lines of the Thrashers were offering someone we wanted. If I remember correctly, back on draft day, the team wanted to draft Bourret but then Staal was available so we made a move to get him. Now, by giving up Dupuis, suddenly you have Staal AND the guy you wanted 2 years ago. Not to mention, Dupuis' contract expired after this year.

It makes perfect sense. NYR didn't deal a prospect for him, they traded Adam Hall. Plus, Dupuis is an upcoming free agent.

It's amazing how we turned an awful deal of Moore for Hall into Moore for Bourret. You've done it again Glenny!

Good catch redressor. A couple of degrees of separation there, but in the end it looks like a really good deal.

Of course that's what happened. And Ward was traded because of Jagr.

Stop looking for the ulterior motive in everything. Dupuis and Ward were traded because the front office thought the moves would be good for the organization, and that's it.

It doesn't matter if Dupois was loved or hated by the entire locker room. When that deal comes along for Bourret, you pull the trigger. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Bourret...

I remember at bthe time of the draft i did want NYR to take this kid and was quit happy when i found out that they got this good prospect, well excellent prospect.

now my question is, can some one please give me an example of what this kids potential is, and a comparison to any HL player out there. He went mid 1st round,so im assuminga 2nd line player, butfeeling may be a great 3rd liner to have, im not sure.

I would have to say that this deal had more to do with the Thrashers doing everything possible to make the playoffs - even if that means moving their top prospect for a 3rd liner - and us being the lucky ones since they decided to do it with the Rangers.

Why would Sather acquire...

Dupuis when he had Avery if there was an issue?

They got Dupuis and he may not have been the player they thought he was. He was a third liner, of which they had many, and another team was willing to give up on a prospect to add NHL depth and Sather took it. Doubt it's much more than just a decent offer, and Sather adding another 20 year old to Hartford.

I really don't think there was any problem with Avery and Dupuis. Actually I don't even think the Rangers were actively shopping Dupuis. The Atlanta GM probably asked about him and when Slats sniffed the desperation in the air he decided to take Waddell behind the shed.
