Bet you dollars to donuts that Hemsky and Horcoff's total will fall.

it's all fine and good to say that in theory. i'm assuming you've never worked in a job where upper management is either totally incompetent, or completely unsupportive of their staff, or refuses to acknowledge shortcomings and needs that their employees have.

trust me, i have, and it's completely IMPOSSIBLE to stay motivated in that kind of situation. so let's just set aside the self-help book rhetoric for a moment and pretend like this is real life, kay?

Talk about ripping the heart out of a team.

It will take more than B level prospects, draft picks and some "talk" of signing high profile free agents to reanimate this listless corpse of a team.

I just hope.

This is a tough night for the Oilers. So many emotions. But Joseph has made some great saves tonight.

Well I've bought every PPV game the Oilers have had on, that I was around home for. But I beleive I can find a better use for that money. This is like watching a ****ing AHL team.

It's probably been said a few times in this thread, but I love those Oilers jerseys. Any chance they return to those colors in the future?

Get used to this if the EIG choose to continue to cheap-out and not spend to the CAP!

You know we wouldn't be watching hockey in Edmonton if a group of gentleman didn't take an extremly large risk in an uncertain market.

If the EIG needs to pay off debt first so be it. 40 million should be enough to ice a decent club.

I've thrown up in my mouth 2wice tonight.

I'm not even kidding.

Bottom line, absolutely heartbroken.

Heartbroken.

I've lost faith, completely.

What's the score??? No big surprise that the team imploded after losing one of the true heart and soul players on the team. That said, by tomorrow they need to pull their stuff together or just look at playing for the BPA Best Pick Available

Keep muttering that mantra of mediocrity. You and all Edmonton Oilers' fans who are like minded, and you will get exactly what you are willing to accept - a vision grounded in small time thinking.

What happens if the CAP next year is U$46 million dollars and the Oilers' Owners imposed a U$40 million dollar budget. (6/40=15%) So when we play teams that spend to the CAP, those teams will always have a 15% edge talent/depth-wise, each and every time we play those teams. In an era where parody is pervasive and having a competitive edge looms large not PAYING THE PRICE OF ADMISSION dooms diehard Oilers' fans into having to support a second class, weak sister, backwater organization that will continue ice also-ran teams. This from a NHL Franchise that is making money and choosing to deliver substandard product by avoiding risk in order to pocket small time profits.

Actually, with precious few exceptions, that's pretty much what we have at this point. Pouliot, Stortini, Syvret, Petersen, JFJ, Gilbert, Roy...all AHLers probably up here before they should be, due to injuries and lack of results. Other non-AHLers on the roster are either young or inexperienced (Lupul, Smid, Hejda, Greene, etc). Really, the only guys we have in the active lineup right now who are proven legit experienced NHL players are Pisani, Smith, Staios, Horcoff, Reasoner, and Sykora (I'll toss Hemsky on that list because he's obviously quite talented. Rolie doesn't count because he's got to stay in his net and stop pucks).

Not a good state of affairs It's no wonder we're having trouble winning games, with a lineup mostly composed of AHLers and first/second year pros.
