Everyone showing up to play at once would be nice.

Their defense is slow, if we can get Weise Prust and Moen back that could be an excellent 4th line that creates momentum. That would be a big plus.

Price obviously needs to be better than vs Ottawa last year and the PP has to wake up.

I've been looking at some of their full games. A few observations

1) Tyler Johnson is one of their Top-2 Center. He's very quick but not very strong. He's only 5'9. And he's at 48% on Face-offs. Our bigger players (I know we don't have many) could take advantage of his size deep in their zone.

2) Radko Gudas is like a 6' Emelin. He hits like a truck and he's hitting all the time. Plus he's had 4 fighting majors. Plays lots of minutes for a pure defensive D. (He's their #3 after Carle and Hedman).

3) Their fighter is BJ Crombeen... His fight card is not very impressive. Fights lots of middle weight or non-fighters (Moen fought him to a draw).

4) Ondrej Palat is very impressive. He was drafted later because he was considered a one-dimensional offensive player. He's thrived offensively in the AHL and NHL, but also developed a whole shutdown aspect to his game... He's not big but he out-hits all the forwards on the Lightnings by a very large margin (he has about 150 hits this season). He's got a non-stop motor.

5) I thought Victor Hedman was now their clear number 1 but he's actually still played this season less minutes a game (Total and ES) than Matt Carle. He's their #1 on the PP though.

This guy is a dirty player though, he likes to throw elbows.

Dirty, mean, ugly... You can add all those qualifications. With his beard he looks like an unfrozen caveman. It won't take long in the series before Montreal fans know his name.

Did they move Stamkos to the wing? I was under the impression that their top 2 centers were

Stamkos
Filpula

Good point... When Stamkos was gone, he was 1-2 with Filpulla.... Johnson is still taking lots of faceoffs and he plays a lot with Stamkos... I'll need to focus on how they interact in the defensize zone when they both play together. With Stamkos out so much, he's in their Top-3 point leaders for Forwards (with Palat and Fillpulla) and has 23 goals. It's going to be difficult to drop him permanently on the 3rd line. Because of his size, like DD he doesn't fit well in a bottom-6 role.

Yea I don't see them dropping Johnson to the 3rd line. In any case, having two centers on the same line is usually a luxury rather than an issue.

Yup. Tampa is 5 points ahead of the Wings, and Wings only have 2 games left

Plek and Subban can neutralize Stammer so we'll need Filpula to get out played by the DD line. This series might come down to our 3rd line

Detroit has 3 games left, as many as Tampa. Mathematically, Detroit can still catch up to Tampa. One win by the Lightning and they guarantee it.

Dont underestimate Palat. Extremely tough kid to play against and has scoring poise.

We need to set the tone right out of the gates.

It was a bit of a freak injury for Bishop, but the Habs should take it as a sign to be careful playing guys nursing small injuries before the playoffs.

I lot of people are overrating Tampa real quick. The team is carried by mostly rookies! Wake up! Those rookies aren't all going to perform as well in the playoffs. Stamkos is obviously dangerous.
Bishop possibly missing half the series or so is gonna help, but again, Tampa shouldnt be something to worry about. If the Habs play their game, they'll win.

Take Gudass out if his element...
Use speed strip him of the puck whenever possible.
Avoid physical confrontation unless absolutely necessary (with him)
He'll cough it up...
Absolutely need more pressure on their D than what we showed in the reg season.

So Detroit would have to win 3 straight and tampa lose 3 straight in regulation. That would be amazing. I wish this would happen so badly

Just give me home ice. 2 Habs wins or 1 Habs win coupled with 1 Bolts loss or 2 Bolts losses.
I kinda like Detroit/Pitts Columbus/Broons.
So i don't mind if everything stays as is.

I called it, or I did not called it?
