Horc......grrrrr

Anybody see the clip on Sportsnet.ca...Horc basically shrugs it off as nothing at the end of his interview. What an ungrateful brat. The guy rides Smyth's coat tales to an 11 million dollar contract and then acts like he did. I cant wait for Horc to get demoted now that there is nobody there to pick up his missed defensive zone coverage or to get teh puck out of the corners for him. I wish we would have trade Horc for a puck bag instead of Smyth for draft picks.

I totally caught that vibe while listening to his interview as well.

As if it isn't bad enough you just lost your best player and the face of the franchise and then have an ungrateful former teammate make it seem he could have done anything without Smyth.

Smyth was the Oilers!

give it a rest... yesterday he said this move meant end of playoffs hope and everyone started whining.. today he says its nothing and we get the same reaction.. what do u expect him to say? ofcourse this move meant lowe has thrown in the towel for the year and smyth will be missed greatly.. If this interview offended u then read the thread where he said all the great things about smyth and how we have no hope this year.

I expect that means he is thinking Smyth could be back in July. Otherwise he's just being a bit of a dick.

I am thinking that's it myself. My guess is the mental quote from Horcoff was "what the hell did you do smyttie? Are you retarded?"

In all fairness the horc quotes in the paper this morn were entirely different than what he's sounding off on today...the company line.

This has every look of horc being pulled aside by managment and "hey, can we have a word with youShawn"

Today interview is the corrected oilerspeak version. Guy has to decide allegiance of course.

Hes towing company line. They probably typed the script for him.

don't blame the messenger.

yup, its pretty obvious that this is what happened when you consider the 180 horcoff did on the subject in less than 24 hours

Yeah... that's right... there is an Oilers management conspiracy to get all the fans thinking that trading Smyth was something we did for this year's playoff push.

They then have threatened all the players to speak to tune so that the fans won't see that trading Smyth for futures solidified our status as sellers (ie throwing in the towel)

Wasn't Prendergast himself quoted as saying last week they hadn't decided to be sellers yet... ie THERE WAS NO SECRET THAT WE COULD BE SELLERS

Maybe, just maybe, Shawn Horcoff has some pride of his own, and he's not willing to give up on playing out the rest of the season... I mean what do you expect him to say? That since Smyth is gone he's going to stop trying so that they can move up in the draft?

And furthermore... when you are a leader, it's not called "towing the company line"... its called being diplomatic and realizing that you and YOUR TEAMMATES are payed very well to play as well as possible... and the moment you give the fans reason to think you won't, you can be out of work. Ask Arnott.

Time to digest it maybe?

Lowe himself said that it basically meant they were giving up on the season last night, I can't see why he'd chastize horcoff for echoing the same sentiment.

Yeah that... or yesterday he was spouting off on emotion, and today he realized he's called upon and payed to be a leader

Some of the quotes from Shawn sounded entirely demoralized earlier. its obvious someone talked to him. Maybe even to cheer him up. but the quotes from yesterday were the honest reactions and today sounded extremely scripted.

heres some of the quotes from yesterday:

http://www.edmontonsun.com/Sports/Oi...76187-sun.html

I won't argue this point further but demoralized really fits and the whole team was last night obviously. The performance entirely gave that away.

ftr I have no problems with horc saying anything. I was defending his right to say whatever. not sure what you're doing.

I severely doubt you get over losing a valued linemate of several years in one real nice sleep. Amazing recuperative powers that.

horcoff is doing what he has to. he is gonna be bugged with questions about it, i am sure he is sick of it and he needs to move on and be a leader as someone else said to get his team, not smyth's, past this.

maybe they did not even get along, bottom line is we don't know enough to judge horcoff's reaction.

or maybe he was upset until it sunk in that smyth walked out on him and the oil to chase a few more dollars.

i am sick of all this smyth love fest.
