I am sitting in an empty parking lot killing time on my phone. White van pulls up. Heavily tattooed scrawny guy "Hey want a free home theater system?" Nope. "Why not?" Tell them to leave. They do. Take down license plate.
The weirdest thing is a few months back I was in Spruce Grove filling up gas and a white van pulled up asking if I wanted a new tv cheap. Also declined.
Other than getting jumped, what is with this latest scam?
Just odd that white vans seem to find me whether in Edmonton or Spruce Grove and always on my own.

No part of me wants to excuse what happened today. It was wrong. Period. End of sentence. I'm free to speak my mind tomorrow, and will.

That it was written, and that some voted for an absurd option, tells me that we need to continue to educate. We will. It's not acceptable.
Fact of the matter is Ched tried to court controversy with this poll and bolster ratings and attention and got it. So any posturing like this after the fact is basic bs and further want for hits and ratings.
As to the poll question asked it was;
NO - women should be able to dress, drink and walk as they choose without fear of being blamed
YES - if women drink too much, dress too little or walk in harms way they put themselves at risk
Note that the yes answer pertained specifically to risk, with a phrase that states ""or walk in harms way they put themselves at risk" and with answers in that category possibly having more to do with mitigating said risk rather than blame the victim ideology. Note that the latter phrase was preceded by "or" not "and" and that the latter meet the conditions to reasonably answer yes to the question. The reality being that specific to this poll either yes or no answers are reasonable. Even in the wording of the question Ched wanted to court controversy and to inflate the yes answers. How does anybody even reading the question carefully not consider it as a valid statement regarding the risk? Ched worded this ambiguously and made both questions valid answers so that the results would inflame the topic. Now DT gets to sermonize on it. lol
Finally I'll add that in todays "hooking up" culture various studies cite that in excess of 60% of cases of casual sex young people are getting together and having sex while impaired. This probably being a poor idea for all given alcohol/drugs impact on inhibitions, judgement, and with establishment of legal consent not possible while inebriated.

Heads up to anyone who may need to park in open lots around HYS Center...
Two days ago we had our 6 month old daughter at the pediatrician who works out of HYS. Coming out, we get to the car and just as we put our daughter into her car seat, and my wife got in on the other side, a couple of guys approached me and demanded I hand over the parking ticket...to this I replied its expired and only good for one hour...they then say, give me your ****ing ticket now. I said again, its expired and no good...they got into my face at which point thankfully couple of guys ran over as they saw the whole thing at which point the thieves took off running...
I'm in music journalism and we're trying to do a few celebrity (non-musician) interviews for the news outlet I work for. It'd be kinda weird asking an interview to discuss crappy pop/top 40 with Taylor Hall if his music taste has evolved.
