Why does Renney love Malik so much?

He plays him when he should be playing Pock.

He gives him an "A" when Shanahan and Straka go out.

this is ludicris.

I'm not as anti-malik as some people but I would have preferred seeing that A on Ortmeyer. Hard working guy who communicates with his teammates, I don't give a crap if he doesn't produce numbers, he takes a puck up high for the team night after night.

Dont think Malik deserved the A, but the main reason he gets so much ice time is that the rest of our defensemen suck even worse.

Or maybe Malik has a dynamic with other players on the team that can only be seen in the locker room by the coaching staff and not by die-hard fans on internet message boards?

It's fine to disagree with the coaching staff on in-game management and strategy: some things are just a matter of x's and o's. But for issues dealing with chemistry and team dynamic, it's best to leave the decisions up to those who have a bit better information than us.

It's just another one of Renney's odd doings, like most other choices he's made this season.

Honestly, i've been rather disappointed with Pock's play? is it because he's playing with Rachunek? maybe, but i much rather have Malik over an unconfident pock (IMO).

Because he is a good player and the Rangers play better when he is in the lineup.

And the undeserved bashing continues......

If you're a big D-Man who isn't physical you will always draw the wrath of those that think aggression is more important than being effective. That's why players like Orr and Purinton will always be far more popular with those folks.

I suppose I should just accept this nonsense by now but I still haven't.

Right on point! I posted similar comments in another thread a couple weeks ago here. I can't understand the hate for the guy. I accept the fact that he's about as physical as Steven Hawking, but he does get the job done in other ways. It doesn't have to be pretty, as long as it gets done. Besides, he still gets props from me for that unbelievable shootout goal last season! He isn't perfect, but I think he's a steady calming influence on the blue line.

Jagr gave the A to him and rightfully so. Captain does those thing, not a coach.

PLEASE.

If Malik would EVER use his body he'd be 10x the d-man he is today. The reason he's so bad is because of his absolute refusal to ever hit.

Enough about the A.

If the fans hate him then fine. It gets pushed to an irrational extent, but that's some people's prerogative.

But anyone on a message board who acts as if he or she knows how a guy's teammates feel about him is just full of it.

How Malik see's it:

Quote:
I understand when its a reaction when Im playing bad. But when Im playing good and I make a good pass or an assist and theyre still booing. For all the respect I have for the fans. I dont care about that, Malik said. I care about my teammates and what they think of me. They know Im trying to do the best I can for them. Management and coaching staff know the same thing. They appreciate my work. With the fans, even if my stats are good, what else can I do? I can put them on my side with my play on the ice.

The other thing about Malik that his haters love to ignore is the fact that he is the best Dman on the team when it comes to breakout passes.

I think Pock has played real well at times, he takes the body and shoots the puck, leads the rush. I think his poor play is because Rachunek is so bad.

we are going to lose Pock in the off season and you watch how good he will become once he signs with a team that will play him on a regular basis.

Anither typical mis-handling of a young player by the Ranger orginization.

All you did was reiterate what I said: You'd love him if he were pounding guys. If he lost his man and caused two on ones while doing so or it affected his passing than you'd still be happy? Probably.

You want him to be something he's not. Sorry. That's just not the way it works. I want Rachunek to put the puck on net. Ain't gonna happen. I want Rozsival to shoot on the power play. It ain't gonna happen. I want Orr to learn how to skate. It ain't gonna happen.

Accept the good things a player brings and stop harping on the same bull over and over ad nauseum.
