Keep it simple LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Tonight, when the Rangers face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins at MSG, they'll have an opportunity to take another big step forward against another team currently in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. And if they can put away the Pens tonight, they will move within four points of the conference's top eight with multiple games in hand on two of the teams (Montreal and Atlanta) fighting to remain in the mix." I am really looking foward to see the team tonight. Can anyone help me out with the lineup? Is Isbister gonna be playing again? I like that we brought Immonen back up, its time for him too prove he can be an effective scoring line center in the NHL and not just in the AHL. Mara, Tyutin, Rozy, Girardi, Rachunek, Malik, Pock. Whose the odd man out tonight, Pock I would assume?
7th - Islanders - There is almost no way we catch them because we have no games in hand on them and they have 72 points, 6 more than us.
8th, 9th - Montreal, Carolina - These are the two teams we are really battling here. Montreal has 72 points, Carolina has 71, yet we have 3 games in hand on each. So if we win those 3 games in hand, we will be right there with these two teams! The BEST news:
Both Montreal and Carolina are struggling big time. Carolina has lost its last 2 games...losing 2-0 to Ottawa yesterday. Montreal has been horrible, losing 4-0 to us in their last game. I really don't see either of these two teams making the playoffs.
10th - Toronto - 69 points, but we have 1 game in hand on them. I just dont see Toronto making it. They are a rebuilding team and all they did at the deadline is pick up Perreault, not amazing.
11th - Us (66 points) - We control our destiny, yet we also have teams like Montreal and Carolina helping us out by losing their games
12th - Boston - I dont see them making the playoffs. Their goaltending has been horrible...Thomas has been very subpar while Toivonen has been terrible. Getting Ward won't save their season.
Rangers have to do this thing on their own without hoping for teams to help them out.
I say the Rangers can even go 11-8 and still make it, BUT they'd have to lose specific games. Assuming we can't catch PIT, or PIT won't nosedive, we can drop these games IMO: 4 PITT, 2 PHI, 1 OTT, 1 STL.
But you might as well hope for as many wins as you can get, and even try to take over PITT as well.
The four games at the Island couldn't get any more important.

If we could win three of the four games or go 2-1-1 vs. the 'sticks it would be monstrous. As long as we can win a bunch of games including playing GREAT hockey against NYI we could get in.
Remember kids, vs. the Isle, bring your "FRY THE FISHSTICKS" chants. I haven't heard it in a while.

They can catch them. The Rangers play the Isles 4 more times this year.
IF the Rangers win tonight and on Saturday afternoon - theyll have a big shot to catch up to the Islanders. Even if the Isles win their next 2 and the Rangers sweep them in the home and home the Rangers will be only 2 points behind them. (74 and 76)
And theyll have 2 more 4-point games against them after that.
A 5-game winning streak is needed. Tonight will be #2 in that streak.
imo I think of the teams 8-11 (Montreal, Carolina, Toronto, Rangers) The Rangers will be the team that comes up ontop for that 8th and final spot (At the least). All 3 of those teams are falling and falling hard. Montreal is 4-6 in their last 10 with injuries to some of their better players (IE: Higgins). Raycroft has been pulled in 3 of that teams last 5 games and is 3-4-3 in their last 10. Carolina is doing the best of the 3 at 5-5 but in their last 5 game they are 2-3 and Cam Ward has not been playing well as of late.
With a hot Lundqvist and this team scoring 3 or more goals a game, the Rangers will win a lot more than they lost and grab that 8th spot.
Now that Dominic has been traded off the Pens are chances are wayyyy better!!!
He might have been the best D minded forward on that team and they traded him away. The Pens think they can win every game in a crazy scoring exhibition.
1. Rangers have to control this game. No crazzzy 6-5 shootouts with this Pens team. Those games make them smell blood and they are young fast and can score. Have to play a tight disciplined D for 60 minutes.
The Rangers can play a very smart d minded game when focused to do so. I hope they are up for it.

Will we see Sean Avery vs. Georges Laraque?
When does Hossa get his Hat Trick?
Avery will get hammered! in that bout. We got Orr for him.

I'd like to feel differently but Orr's doomed against Laraque. But I admire the guys fearlessness and you know they're definately going to drop tonight. Laraque in his first game with a new team will want to show them what he does best and Orr, well he just doesn't say no.
Hey, maybe Orr will wind up beating the guy senseless.

id love to see Avery and Ruutu go at it. Or Avery and Thorburn. Hollweg an Ruutu. Hollweg and Armstrong. This game could get nasty. Dont they still have Cairns???? Him and Orr would be a good matchup.
Rangers have to get to Fluery tonight early in the game.
Though early leads havent been the best thing for the Rangers and Pittsburgh has got the prowess for winning the high-scoring games, i'd rather see them play ahead of Pittsburgh than from behind.-

In what will be a high scoring game, the Rangers will come out on top 7-5.
