Immonen or Isbister

What happenes when Straka comes back?? Does Isbister get sent down to the Wolfpack or Immonen. Isbister has to go through waivers I think. I would keep Immonen. And when we dont need Orr, Id use Isbister. I thought when Krog got claimed that Immonen would be here the rest of the season.

They would probably keep Immonen with the big club in order to have Brad's leadership in Hartford.

I'd like to see...

Immonen remain, with Cullen playing to his left...

yea I agree, but Isbister did score 50 pts a few years ago, I wonder why now he is a minor leaguer. In games we dont need Orr, id keep Isbister up here. Hed add some skill to the 4th line. Immonen should play the rest of the games.

I like Immonen a whole lot. He is heady, passes well, tough in the slot and defensively the best center on the Rangers. Let him play some consistent minutes the balance of the season and give him pp time on the second unit. Edge, I'm waiting for your rebuttal.

Straka's playing center, so you'd have to think Immonen will go down

Agreed, though I hope they find room to keep Immo up. The kid belongs in the NHL, I don't understand how some people still doubt that.

It's easy to find room...

First, Straka's really a winger, so Cullen could remain as the second line winger and Straka can replace Avery there, leaving Immonen on a third line with Avery. Second, Cullen could go to wing, where his speed would be better utilized and he can play with Immonen. I think either one works pretty well, better than leaving Isbister up, I believe.

I loved the way Immonen played last night. I would like to see him stay up with the club.

it was immo that did the work on the powerplay leading to hossa's goal, he looked pretty good, and better than isbister. however with that being said i could easily see isbister stickin while immo goes down

id like to see

hossa-straka-jagr
avery-nylander-prucha
cullen-immonen-ortmeyer
hollweg-betts-orr

until shanny comes back

I don't see it as easy as some suggest. I too would like to see Immonen remain up, and thought he had a good game last night, to be honest I hardly even noticed Isbister was out there.

The challenge though is that to keep the fewest number of line changes you would put Isbister in Dupuis' spot and Straka returns to his spot between Hossa and Jagr. Of course they had to shuffle the lines yesterday, but I think Hossa and Jagr need to stay together at least.

I noticed Isbister, Fish...

on the first shift, he looked a bit out of place with Immonen and Avery playing well together. He also did get off a decent shot from a feed from Immonen - but I otherwise only noticed him not keeping the puck in the zone.

I don't worry about too much movement. Everything will feed off the top line. I think Avery can play with anybody. I think Cullen can play with everyone, and would actually be a better winger than center.

another reason immo should play over isbister, is that what if straka starts the game and then due to pain he can't go, that just means were down a center and cullen and nylander will get a ton of more icetime, if we dress Immo and that happens we can move up nylander, insert cullen on the 2nd line and keep immo as the 3rd line center

i certainly hope renney is smart enough to do this

lastly i dont really care about keeping the lines intact, avery has played with the 1st and 2nd line, so has hossa and nylander, cullen has been on the 2nd and 3rd lines at times, same goes for immo who was on the 2nd and 3rd lines earlier this season, renney needs to have the right personel in this game, isbister is a waste, id rather they call up up callahan or dubinsky

I don't think either:

Subtract: Dupuis & Krog

Add: Isbister & Immonen

why does anyone need to be sent down?

Also since Isbister is signed to an AHL contract not an NHL contract, does he have to pass through waivers?

And if you want to get technical, since Shanny's still on IR, we have an extra roster spot to even call someone up, but since Shanny should be activated, it's not worth calling someone else up...

Immo was the better player of the two, and we shall see who stands out more this game. Tom may keep Isbister up just because of his experience, but would be nice to see what Immo can do with more games/time.

Isbister aint signed to an AHL contract. He is signed to a 2 way contract. He would have to sign an NHL contract to play in the NHL.

Both players have their pros and cons. Id take Isbister if everything were equal, but with our shortage of centers id take immonen. both players are pretty close though.

Be that as it may, your original point is still invalid since they are under the roster limit even when Shanny returns, that just means that Isbister & Immonen would be scratches once everyone's healthy...

....

ye, I agree, not an easy choice.

I like both. Isbister is much faster than Immonen. Yet, Immonen is more reliable on D and a better passer. I think Immonen is the safer pick since he wont hurt you on D.

Isbister needs to go down to Hartford and work on his stick-handling. He had a great breakaway chance and lost the puck. I remember when he was with the Islanders, he could stick-handle MUCH better...maybe playing in the AHL for so long has made him forget his moves a bit, dont know.
