I'd love to see Leipsic stick with the Big Club next year

He isn't a jump straight to the NHL player, nor does he have the offensive upside of Johnny Gaudreau. He's putting up gaudy numbers on a VERY good team in his "senior year." His honest projection is 3rd line sparkplug with some scoring pop--think Steve Ott. I love him as a prospect, but I don't want to see fans disappointed in the likely event that he doesn't come in and develop into a 25-30 goal scorer.

I think he could be a great third liner for us, maybe do some dirty work in front of the net on the power play...but I think his likely upside is 15-18 goals. Similar to Gabby Bourque(who also put up huge numbers in jr) with a bit more "jam" to his game.

I think he could be Marchand level

Better than Ott for sure (his potential)

I think Marchand is a very best case scenario.

Don't forget...Ott was a first round pick and a huge scorer for the Windsor Spitfires. He's fashioned a long career as a tough, agitating third liner that can score 15-ish goals. Leipsic is likely closer to Ott than Marchand, but it's not a bad thing.

Ott put up decent numbers but his were more on par to Tootoo.

Leipsic's 120 points last season had to be one of our highest since Rads put up like 150.

I don't think Legwand ever broke the 110 mark.

I can't think of a prospect we've had that broke 110 points in juniors.

Simon Gamache scored like 170

Leipsic, like I said, is playing on a junior team of almost legendary status(though they lost the Mem Cup to an even more epic team). Last year, in addition to having Bjorkstrand(who I wish we had grabbed in the third this past draft) and Petan, who are still there, they also had Ty Rattie(St Louis's top prospect) and of course, Seth Jones. I'm not saying there's not some merit to the numbers he's putting up, but from what I've seen and what I've been told, he's not a dazzling type of player that creates offense on his own...he gets his points by being unafraid to go to hard areas, a la Hornqvist.

I thought Leipsic was going to be much less Bourque and much more Marchand. I have always thought he was a little bit more of a speed/finesse player and not really a gritty bowling ball.

Is Ott a good comparable? Marchand would be wonderful as well.

EDIT: just read your last post. In the dvm camps I have seen, Leipsic was easily the most skilled player on the ice. I saw nothing like him banging and scoring goals in the crease. It was finesse. He is very small, and I don't think a "dirty" game would translate at all if that were the case. Maybe I am wrong, but that just doesn't seem to fit the player that I watched.

Anybody else seen him play?

Admirals officially clinched a playoff spot tonight. Forsberg with 2 goals, Beck with 2 assists, Sissons, Salomaki and Moser who returned from an injury picked up an assist each. Mazanec saved 26 of 27.

How has forsberg played since his brief one game callup? Also does moser look like he is recovering well? It was a damn shame he got injured by goons as he was getting some nhl time and seemed like a solid complimentary 3rd liner if he continues to improve.

Wish I could tell you but tonight was tax night (as in holy crap it's April 11th, I need to do my taxes ) and the game is tape delayed which means I get next to no reception on the radio to even listen.

I know but every time I use it it slows down my computer, which I'd rather not have happen.

Forsberg has played smarter.

Moser is okay after his month off.

Goon who was not suspended by the AHL at the time.

Same here. That is why I haven't done that for years.

The signal was very weak last night. I had to change radios to pick it up!

Chicago spent too much time and effort punching the Admirals players in the head. They were actually called for it 2 or 3 times. Is this going to be 2004 or 2006 again?
The Wolves played like total goons and the refs actually called penalties on them!

The only problem is, we don't have Raitis Ivanans on the bench that Claude can put out there to keep their team's goons honest.
