When you do the discourtesy of reducing another's position to a strawman, why would you expect better treatment in return?

Quite frankly there's nothing new in your post to address. If you've not noticed, the same statements are being recycled in different forms which is why I'm not going through my own arguments one more time.

Lundvist's GAA stats for january-february: 1.98. 1st in the league for goalies with 20 games or more during this period (Brodeur 2.00 GAA), second overall (1st goalie had 11 games with 1.96 GAA or something, Lundqvist played 23 games).

Next time Lundqvist posts a shutout, there will be whining in this thread he didn't perform a -1.

WOW that was a great goal vs Hank. Can play the puck in the corner can't get back in time and yet again the team needs to score a extra goal to win cause Hank just can't win the big one easy.

Please stop bringing laser pointers to the Garden Hank can't stop 45 foot wrist shots while they are shining in his eyes.
Oh yea the Olympics are great but careers are measured on NHL stats and money goalies stop wrists shots from 45 feet out. Does hank need to see George Bretts doctor cause his lying on his butt non stop maybe he blew a hemorrhoid?

If careers are only measured on NHL stats, then why should it matter if his career .916 save percentage and 2.38 GAA are from allowing soft goals rather than beauties? I agree that the soft goals are frustrating (and definately a sign of very serious fatigue; the kid's started an unreal number of games in a row), but you're not helping your cause any by contradicting yourself in a single sentance.

Henrik Lundqvist comes from the Mike Richter school of puck handling.

He let up a softie in both the semi-final and the final in the that tournament.

He made a big save against Jokinen but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Good thing you're not an Islanders fan. Rick DiPietro would have killed you long ago.

Good point. I had forgotten that Sweden won the gold because of all of those high-scoring shootouts. Wasn't that 10-8 final game thrilling? Good thing Sweden's high-octane offense bailed Henke out from his 4.66 GAA.

Sweden would have won the gold even with Johan Holmqvist in net.

Point is, Lundqvist was not a difference maker, that team was flat out brilliant.

Boy, then there must be a whole new crew of perfect shooters all of a sudden, because goals are flying over his shoulders like crazy. I'm not arguing about the effectiveness of Lundqvist's style over all. But don't try to tell me that somehow there would be a cost to his game by fixing this problem. He would still be the Lundqvist miracle goalie we know, just better. By working on this, he isn't giving up anything else, so why would anyone want to portray it that way?

This has nothing to do with close-in roofers on the backhand, these are shots from way out. If you want to call yourself a money goalie in the NHL, no way you can keep letting those in.

No one thinks he is god or Brodeur. If you haven't noticed, which you probably haven't, the majority of the people defending Lundqvist - from people like you - have an american flag in their profile.

He isn't god, but he certainly isn't a pile of cow poo either. You just have no faith in him at all. Perhaps he has to be god before he deserves a spot on this team from your opinion.

I just can't believe this pure loathing of him. The guy has played great for the team and has busted his frigging ass off for 28 straight games since our backup is injured. That isn't good enough around here, is it?

I didn't respond to the contents of your post, remember? That's exactly what you were whining about. Rather I responded to your discourtesy.

Don't like it? Try following your own advice and responding to what is written rather than putting words into another's mouth.

Why would that be a good idea? Because he is critical of the play of one player? Seems to me that's cause enough for every person on this board to become a Devils fan, yourself included.

Or are you saying that some players are not to be critiqued? If so, please let us know the other sacred cows so that we remain in your good graces and thus True Blue Ranger Fans.

(Go, team, go!)

Talk about high standards. Some of you guys will never be happy. He's been statistically the best goalie in the NHL since December/January and he was a Vezina finalist in his rookie year last year, and after a brainfart of a third period we got people suggesting we trade him now while his value is still high?

Good lord.

Look I understand he's been sketchy on the mid-range high shots, but he'll learn. We have one of the best goaltending coaches in league in Allaire and this is a very fixable problem. We can probably attribute the issue to fatigue, which is also very curable.

He isn't "Marty good", but he has put up better numbers than Brodeur for the last 2-3 months.....

I can't believe that any Ranger fan would actually complain about the one player on this team that is actually performing well.
