Its a no brainer right now. Both of our goalies have been incredibly shakey and horribly on-and-off injured all season. Lets get Biron in there now and see what he can do. He's got the most potential of them all, IMHO.
Biron is only here because he was tired of being a backup...I like him so far, so I wouldnt want to just be a dick and put him as a backup anyway. He was only brought in to be a starter, so I dont know why someone would be shocked to find that were ready to hand him the #1 job.
Biron. He's the best and healthiest (physically and mentally) out of the bunch.
Shut down Niitty and get him in for repairs, then use Esche sparingly to spell Biron for a game here and there.
Biron's here, he (says he) wants to be here, and he's the best option we have. Stevens would be an absolute joke if he didn't play him as a #1. Well... would it really take that for us to say that Stevens is a joke? My impression of JS is that, just like alot of players, he can excel at the AHL, but somehow can't translate into the NHL.
we have to get Nitty into surgery now. Ive been saying that for months now...
That's all well and good, but he has said that he isn't going to get the surgery until the season is over.
Let's assume for a second that he did agree to get the surgery, there's still no reason to have 3 goalies. The season is over and there's no reason to not go with Biron and Leighton for the remaining games.
Without question Biron should be the starter, otherwise why trade for him in the first place?
The reason there are 3 goalies is because a deal with esche could not be worked out. Therefore, we were going to have 4. So leighton was in turn waived. Obviously they werent going to trade Niitty so that leaves them with 3. As for waiving Esche or something, there really isn't a point in doing that, and he's insurance incase Niitty gets surgery or maybe another injury. It really isn't a big deal.
