I wouldn't move Beltre to DH. He's better 3B than Pedro. I don't think Rangers are looking to add 3B, not for 2-3 years.

Pirates send:

Pedro Alvarez

Rangers send:

Jurickson Profar
Donnie Murphy
Joey Gallo
Neftali Perez
Daniels wouldn't get this drunk, Pedro isn't that valuable.

I instantly turned off the game and threw my Ipad after the Sanchez error. I was watching the Masters on TV.

Looks like I didn't miss much after that.

And to think Sanchez was a 4th overall pick under Huntington (one of the few big blunders he's made).....

Can't hit on them all. I'm still always amazed that Mike Trout was nearly a 2nd round pick that year. How in the blue hell did he fall that far?

Ugly series, but time to put a stop on the bleeding and turn right back around with a series win. If Wandy can pull out a decent start, I think the overall pitching matchups favor us in Cincinnati, especially Cole vs Leake. Cueto might find a way to hold us to negative runs, though.

To be fair, he/the scouts didn't love any of the pitchers at the top of the draft and wanted to spread out the bonus money throughout the draft more than overpay for a prospect he didn't deem worthy of it. Unfortunately the risk with the bonus babies is that when they don't develop they really don't develop.

Sanchez also twice had seasons disrupted by getting his face smashed in by a ball, which certainly didn't help his development.

The pitchers that went after Sanchez have been a mixed bag. Matt Hobgood was a dud, Wheeler looks good, Matzek has done nothing (he was expected to go much higher than he did), Turner is a mixed bag, Minor looks like a real nice pick, etc. The problem is most of these pitchers wanted double slot value and a Major League deal...which, at the time, seemed ridiculous.

The big problem with that draft was that none of the bonus babies turned out to be anything, though Colton Cain and Brock Holt did help us via trade. It was a dud draft, for sure...but damn did guys like Zack Von Rosenberg and Cain look like studs at the time.

But hey, when those bonus babies hit you look like a goddamned genius (see: Glasnow, Tyler).

Yep. I've always hated that inherent bias against 'northern' states like New Jersey, but I don't blame scouts for wanting players who've played more games. Had Trout been born in Texas instead of New Jersey he'd have been a top 3 pick...but instead he was a wildcard who was tearing up the high school baseball equivalent of...well, picking a kid out of a New Jersey high school in the NHL Draft. They're untested against 'top' competition.

Trout also filled in really nicely after being drafted, putting on 30 pounds of pure muscle.

I remember ZVR very well. He was going to pass up his scholarship at LSU if he was taken in first 2 rounds. But Pirates took him in sixth round. They made him an offer and he accepted it. I think big signing bonus made him turn a pro. Man, what a disappointment. He was getting hit hard in minors for few years. I don't know if he's still in Pirate organization.

Well i think it's safe to say Wandy ain't likely to be in the rotation come May if he doesn't get fixed REAL QUICK. Not hitting his spots at all. And when you don't as a soft tosser, you get hammered.

He had better not waste a good offensive output.......as i say that, we hit back to back HR's.

I think they got that replay call right, huh?

Looked like it was fair to me.

It was fair but I don't see how Frazier gets to go to second when he stopped at first.

Yeah, seemed reasonable. Possible argument for putting him at first instead of second, but I think he'd have ended up at second if the play hadn't been stopped.

Waiting to see how much Snider's face swells up if this half inning doesn't end soon. That must have hurt like heck.

Yeah, I don't agree with placing him there either. But as kreptich mentioned, his stopping might have just been from the hearing the ump call in real time.

What an inning for Snider! Takes a ball in the mouth and hits one out.

Like i said, pull Wandy.....nope, and he gives up a 2 run jack.

These are the most brutally frustrating games to watch. We're mashing like crazy and our pitching is flat out sucking worse.....

Two more back to back solo shots for Walker and Sanchez and the Bucs with a 7-6 lead.
