Sather's being lazy. Only wants him because he's a 4th overall pick.
His even strength points are actually low relative to previous years. That's surprising considering his line. What gives?

the first half of the season.

he was TERRIBLE. playing only half a season will do that

If he continues this play, i'd be totally find giving him a 3 year deal...guessing 1.3 wont get it done....2mil per?

Offer him a multi-year deal. All 3 of them have earned it. Their success is great, but what I love the most is their hunger. They give 110% every time they're on the ice.

Agreed. Prior to the deadline, I was suggesting 4 years for Zucc, 3 for Brassard and 2 for Pouliot. I still think that would be ideal for all parties.

In Pouliot's case in particular, I really think he needs to make sure he finds a workable deal with the Rangers, rather than trying to pry every last dollar out of Slats. He's got something special going here and I'm not sure he retains it if he goes elsewhere, especially after he's only had "it" for half a year.

IMO anything around or south of 2.5 per year is good value for Captain Taco.

I think he gets a 2-3 year deal. Somewhere south of 2.5 million.

Something like:

3 years @ 2.2 million
2 years @ 2.35 million

He is still mainly an offensive 3rd liner. Not many teams play 3 scoring lines like the Rangers and he isn't a top-6 forward right now. He fits well here.

I would definitely pay Pouliot $2.5 million if that's what it took, but I don't see it happening. He's the same player he was when he was getting 1 year 1.3-1.8 million contracts.

Except he has shown to have a very good chemistry with (2) specific players here in NY and he has been a more consistent overall player.

Poo is what we expected him to be.

A 30-35 point player.

I could see a 3 year deal at 2.2 per.

Blends well with Brass and Zuccs to form a formidable 3rd line and more than capable 2nd PP unit.

I'm not excited that he's been what he was expected to be. I'm happy that he wasn't less than what he was expected to be.

Honestly he made Pyatt seem like the better choice earlier in the season. Every time he entered the ice you expected him to either turn the puck over, or take a penalty just because he could.

The way he's turned around is nothing short of amazing

That line is great, and he should stay. I think he's finally comfortable in this league on this line, and he might just produce even more next year.

Assuming they all return, you have to hope they pick up from this season into next season. However, that doesn't always happen but I am more inclined to believe that line will just because of HOW good the chemistry is. I also think teams should workout together in the offseason, I don't know why but it doesn't seem to be very common.

Man would have been nice to score on that empty net he had and finish the season with a 1-0 win. Ugh. I wish this line had at least one consistent finisher. Though all 3 have pretty good shots.

That pretty much summarized what he is. I would be very wary of committing to him for any lengthy stretch.

Definitely agree with the last part.

Though this is the best I've ever seen him play. He had a stretch with the Bruins where he was nasty and physical, brought that to the Rangers, set career high in points. Pretty good signing, for once.

Its safe to say many posters did not know what to expect, or were expecting the wrong thing.

There seemed to be a lot of posters who never watched him in Boston or Tampa and pegged him as some sort of top 6 reclamation project.

I do not think that is a fair statement. To most knowleadable posters, in the end, he was exactly the player that ha has been. And an effort should be made to resign him a such. He is a version of a 3rd line player. He should not be resigned as anything but that if it is viewed that he cannot be upgraded from and he will help the team.

He was yet another example of a terrible Sather FA signing meant to address depth. Then a christmas miracle! He ended doing his job well. I went from hating seeing him on the ice to being glad he turned it around. He actually looked greatto start with the exception of all the blown golden opportunties he was noticeable and impacting the game. That honeymoon period quickly faded. Then got his groove back
