Offense Suits Korpikoski

Quote:
After getting six goals and 10 assists and being minus-3 in the first 45 games, Korpikoski has three goals and 11 assists and is plus-12 in the past 13. He has eight points in the past five games and has been a plus player in seven of eight to move into a tie for second on the team with Dawes at plus-9, two behind Ivan Baranka.

"You can see his offense starting to come," said assistant coach Ken Gernander, who handles the forwards. "Before he used his speed but tried to bring it into a scrum, which kind of evened the playing field, and then tried to make something nifty happen. Now he makes his move a little earlier, takes it wide to try to force them to match speed with him and he's got pretty good courage taking it to the net

Lauri Korpikoski spends many hours after practice working with Dwight Helminen on one-timers.Korpikoski talked about how he hardly played his last two seasons at TPS and is starting to feel more confident in his game

Send a message via AIM to Jonathan.
This is some really, really, REALLY good news.

This kid can turn into an ABSOLUTE steal if he develops the way he should be.

This is fantastic to hear.

basically everything we thought would happen. hardly played in finland couldn't wait for him to get over to hartford so he could actually develop properly so he's now here and developing and from what i've seen the last 2 games i've watched he has been the best skater and player on the ice. love this kid and tell you what i even like him at center.

Seeing this from Korpi in Hartford, explains why the Rangers want to bring Anisimov over, and why, I'm not worried about Bourret's reported laziness. I really like what Schoeny and his crew are doing in Hartford.

why would he be a steal?

he was drafted in the first round, traded up for none the less.. while it's not what i would unreasonably expect or label him a bust for not performing at that level, i think considering all else, he would further justify that selection

It's nice to see what Maloney/Renney & Co. were so high on when they traded up to get him in '04.
