Who do you like the most out of that group and why?

From what I've read, Virtanen is streaky. He brings good size and when he's on, he's great. But I hear he dissapears a lot too.

Ehlers is the hot pick right now. It seems like he can go 4-6 or even fall to us. Think picks like Nichushkin, F Forsberg, Niederreiter (guys who could of gone anywhere in the top 15 or so). I'd be happy giving him a shot, but probably won't be there.

I'd be happy with Nylander. He's a C who has some of the best skating in the draft. Great wrister, too. Knock is that he apparently tries to do too much with the puck. Hopefully, that would be fixed.

Any of Perlini, Nylander, or Ehlers look good to me if they fall to 11.

Not a fan of Virtanen at 11. Fleury either.

Any idea what the talent difference is for Reinhart compared to Nylander?

One thing to note on Button's list…. He has Virtanen at 7.but lists his Team as Modo.. Does he mean Nylander or Virtanen? Also, Nylander is not on his Top 12 Mock.

Here is my latest mock

1. Florida- Ekblad
2. Buffalo- Reinhart
3. EDM- Draisatl
4. CGY- Ritchie
5. NYI- Bennett
6. Van- Dal Colle
7. Car- Kapanen
8. Tor- Fleury
9. WPG-Perlini
10.ANA- Ehlers
11. Nash- Nylander

I think there's virtually no chance Nylander is there at 11.

Button's initial mock had us take Tuch, who from seeing him play in the USHL reminds me of Dustin Brown-- good size, decent offense, strong defensive game. Honestly, 11 seems high for him, and I don't think he fills the need--but that said, it seems like a classic Poile pick. I actually like his more highly-skilled teammate Sonny Milano a bit more, but even then...that's a 15 or 16th overall pick.

Ehlers and Virtanen remain my top picks from those guys likely to be available. Honestly, I'd try to move up though.

Florida is pretty heavy on defensive prospects and at C as well..Sam Bennett seems like their guy, whether or not they take him at 1 or trade down. Aside from that, your picks all seem...a bit off.

I'll go with:

1.Bennett
2. Reinhart
3. Ekblad
4. Dal Colle
5. Draisaitl
6. Nylander
7. Kapanen
8. Fleury
9. Ritchie
10.Ehlers
11.Perlini

Not necessarily how I want it to shake out, but how I think it will

I believe that Reinhart has a more complete game. Better vision and plays the whole length of the ice.

Ehlers is the guy I hope they can get somehow. No chance he is there at 11 though sadly. We won our way out of a good prospect and will be left with a decent one instead...

I'm still in the boat of trade the pick. I'm not the biggest fan of this draft.

Im with you while I have really liked the looks of Nylander there's just no way he falls this far down. And unless the scouts have found a player that has been way under the radar it would be better to move the pick for a nhl ready prospect. Any player taken at 11 is going to require a few years to be ready to hit the roster. By that time I hope that things are turned around. But then again who knows what the system the new HC is bringing in.

If the pick had been 6-8 I could see using it but at this point might as well put it in a package with another pick a prospect and a roster player and attempt to get a player to match with Hook to build around.

The one pick I would like is Leon Draisaitl. He will be gone by 5 I think.

I would be honestly tempted to QO Ryan O'Reilly. Nashville does have their 1st, 2nd, & 3rd

Me as well. I don't think the Preds have the time to develope the pick and meet Poiles minimum standard of making the playoffs.

Nylander might fall like Forsberg. Small raw talent playing overseas. There's a chance certainly. I hope we end up with either him kapanen at our spot since they are the only two realistically that might still be there. I wouldn't be upset if virtanen made it to us and we picked him if our other options are tuch and the like. Would rather poile take the non predators pick and gamble on someone with a potentially huge offensive upisde.

I don't think anyone would complain if we drafted the next kopitar… or Iginla…

IIRC Kopitar was considered a risky "off the board" pick by LA… seems to have turned out pretty swell, huh?

He wasn't at all off the board, in fact, he dropped a bit from where some thought he *should* go. He was considered risky simply because no one had ever drafted a player from Slovenia(and hasn't since). There was question about who would be willing to take that risk, but with each passing pick, the buzz was "wow, someone's going to hit a home run."

We can only hope someone like Draisaitl drops because of his "German factor".

There's virtually no chance Draisaitl drops to us at 11. I'd be shocked if he made it past 7 at the worst. There just isn't enough top end talent for someone as good as Draisaitl to fall that far.

So we have about a 7% chance of drafting a star forward. With Poile, those odds go down astronomically.

Trade it if we can get something good.

As barrytrotzsneck states, it was mostly due to him being Slovenian. He was the top ranked European skater going into that draft though, so it definitely wasn't off the board. Even at 11 there's plenty of GMs kicking themselves for that one. There's not a player from that group I take over him except for Sid (of course).

Seeing the amount of trash that has come out of the 11th pick, I'd settle for just a "good" NHL forward.

If you actually look at the forward picks, they're really not that bad

Sillinger had a 25+ year career
Rolston was a solid player with a 79 point season, including 34 goals that season, also had a long career
Friesen was at one time a 30g 30a player
Iginla is a future HOFer
Jeff Carter had some great seasons
Kopitar is an elite 2 way center
And we all love Forsberg

So out of 15, 7 seem like good value picks.

Ellis, Campbell, and Seimens all seem to be good picks there as well.

Kidd, Ballard, and Witt were all serviceable picks as well. About 1/3 of those guys were complete busts, though, or made minimal impact at an NHL level. With our luck... I still remember back, as a Kings fan, when Lauri Tukonen was our Pontus Aberg or Austin Watson.
