If montoya is the ahl goaltender of the month then why is his backup starting for the rangers today? Anyone? is it a waiver thing or a post-trade deadline roster thing?

the blues have been playin very well since the coaching change, and they had a very deep roster until the deadline in guerin, tkachuk, rucinsky, weight, devo, backman, jackman, drake and some kids that really hustled

this is not a team to be taken lightly, ask the isles

Listen, I'd rather see Montoya play myself, but I guess the thinking here is to not make his first start as important for the big club as this one is. Besides, Valli is capable of playing very well, it depends on which guy shows up....the flopper, or the stand up brick wall he has been at times throughout his spotty career. The guy is an example of unfullfilled talent if I ever saw one. When he was with the Isles a few years back, I was actually impressed with him and thought he'd be an NHLer, but he never got it together, and its a shame.

ye... same here. I remember when he played for us a few years back. I was also really impressed. But we'll have to wait and see. I must say, Renney and Co. certainly make it exciting

The Blues were actually a really good team pre-trades. Not sure how theyll be now, but I know if Tk and Buerin were still on that team wed probably lose. they play inspired hockey like the Caps and never give up. pre trade i say we lose this, now, even w/ valiquette, w/ the blues 2 biggest offensive threats gone, id say we should be ok. 3-1 Rangers.

yeah, wasnt that the freaky game where Rucinsky shot it in from the blueline and it bounced off the glass and hit their goalie in the back and went in?

I hope you're right Inferno. The more I think about it, nothing positive could have come out of bringing up Montoya here. If he succeeded there would be those calling for him to stay up in Weekes place, if he failed, it would hurt his confidence going into the AHL playoffs. The right move was made calling up Valliquette.

I'm predicting Valiquette with the shutout based on all the negativity here.

Not crazy about Valiquette getting this game. We need all the points we can get and St. Louis should be one of our easier opponents left--lose this game and it's a nail in our coffin.

On the Janssens hit--wouldn't surprise me if the league doesn't do anything. Don't necessarily think that justice is on its way. Wouldn't be a huge loss for them in any case if he were suspended.

i hate Rangers Gamenight.. Fischler is wack..

I'm fine with Valliquette in, so that Monty can hang with the 'Pack..

Lets go JD! Lets go Rangers!
