A biiit early to start the talk about calling him up. If HFD were to cut one player today, based on how much they are contributing, Lessard and Jessiman would be about tied.
Now I think that is what they are trying to get through to him Ola. "Just go to the crease and good things will happen". I mean look at what that does for Avery and Prucha....and they are a lot smaller than Hugh.

He probably learned about holding penalties from Maliks DVD....

bring him up! he knows where to put his foot!

i do think that announcing his arrival in the AHL, let alone clamoring for his call-up to the NHL, is premature.. he has to have a solid end of the season plus a great camp to even be thought of a possible call-up.. its best we wait and let him get his confidence up..

Yeah, but there are others aspects of the game were Hugh are much much worse then Prucha and Avery. Though, I agree with you. Its great how he have picked up his game. And no matter what, allot will come from crashing the net. But my point is that Byers are also crashing the net, and got 4 inches in hand on both Prucha and Avery.

Quite frankly, I thinks thats a bit stupid, if it were done. Shanahan is pretty darn talented to start with, and have picked up a pretty advanced offensive game while playing for a Detroit for a really long time. You can't emulate that.

Also, Shanahan's trademark is still to get open and fireaway. Hugh doesn't nearly got the release to be succesful playing that way in the NHL.

Freddy Modin is a player Hugh could emulate. He is really good defensivly in the neutral zone. Completly shuts down his wing with his size and strength along the boards. He is also very strong on the puck down low, and good at finding open players. When he gets a pass, no matter where he is on the ice, he lets people come to him, draws attention, which opens up ice for his linemates. He scores his fair share of goals with one of the hardest shots in the league, but his release is so slow, like Hughs, that its seldom worth it for him to stand around in the crease waiting for a pass.

Good period 5 on 5 by HFD, too many penaltys though, 7 boxplays so far, one of them a 5 on 3.

I don't know how many guys are left from Hersey's team last season, but if were impressive in the 2nd how HFD could completly push them back.

2-1 bears, career AHLer giroux scored. We should have held onto him because he's becoming a pain in the ***.

Checkers win in OT 5-4 in a penalty-filled game. Big Bruce with his 30th.

HFD on the PP again. This reff is funny, he doesn't call the obvious calls. But as soon as a player goes down hard its a penalty.
