ROAD/HOME RECORDS: Rangers -- 14-14-5 at home Islanders -- 15-13-4 on road
2006-07 SEASON SERIES: Islanders, 4-0-0
LAST MEETING: Jan. 9, 2007: Islanders 5, Rangers 3
@ Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers came into the game with four straight wins. The Islanders came in with six straight losses.
Everything seemed to be in the Blueshirts' favor at The Garden, but by the evening's end, it was the visitors who were celebrating.
The Isles broke a 3-3 tie with two goals in a 27-second span of the final period and held on for a 5-3 win.
The Rangers have lost all 4 meetings this season against their state rivals and are looking to reverse
their fortunes in their final meeting of the season between the two on Garden ice.
On Thursday they'll faceoff again on the Island. Huge points on the line.
A sweep by the Rangers would leave them only 2 points behind the Isles,
but a sweep by the Islanders would separate them by 10 points...

Rangers are actually now in 12th place as Boston has the same amount of points as the Rangers, but have 1 more win (32) than the Rangers (31) in the same amount of games played. The Rangers need this game big time, especially when Carolina losing today.
Gametime decision right now. I would think Straka really wants to play in this one, but knowing that they dont play again till Thursday I wouldnt be surprised if they want to give him another 3 days to rest up and give it a go on the Island.
I can't wait for this game. Unfortunately, I won't be at the game but I will be tuned in.
Good luck Isles fans..you guys have had a great season and it should be a fun game - it usually is between the two of us.
We really need this game. Not just for the playoff race (although that is the priority), but to actually send a message that this isn't a reversal of 2004 and that we can actually BEAT the Islanders. Hopefully Straka will be back, but maybe we can keep up the momentum from saturday.
