Schremp(0.6m) Stoll(2.5m) Lupul(2.5m) Smith(1.9m) Stuart(4m)

Forsberg will never play here, he would be looking to play for a contender if he is even going to play next year. Another thing is that he does not want to play against Colorado.

Also I would be really surprised if we sign any of those guys you mentioned.

Signing a bunch of UFA's isn't going to help the problem of building
the team from the ground up again, it's just stalling back into mediocrity.
With the picks available there's a chance to draft well and try to
build toward something in a couple of years, after some of the terrible
contracts on the books have expired. Throwing more money at more
bad contracts won't fix anything.

K-Lowe will make a trade for a big name forward this summer. As for free agents i cant see any major free agents signing here. Im sure we will pick up a solid d-man but nothing that will blow you out of the water. Read a little clip in the Edmonton journal along the lines of the Oilers to try and pry Jokinen out of Florida. I know this is far fetched but Lowe should really look at prying Nash out of Columbus. But what in gods name does edmonton have currently that would entertain columbus???

I wonder what the cap floor would be next year... this year it was at 28M...

Torres(1.2M)-Stoll(2.2M)-Hemsky(3.6)
Nillsson(0.8)-Pouliot(1.0)-Schremp(0.8)
Moreau(2.4)-Reasoner(0.9)-Pisani(2.5)
JFJ(0.6)-Brodziak(0.8)-Stortini(0.7)

17.5

Smith(0.9)-Hejda(1.2)
Staios(2.4)-Smid(0.8)
Greene(1.5)-Gilbert(0.7)

7.5

goalies 4.0M
extras 1.0

Total: 30M

I think we'd have a good shot at the Calder Cup with that line up Lackadiascal.

we'll sign some 2nd tier guy at the last minute for 2 mil.. then we'll hear about how we went after every single big names.. the money was there but we just were't able to convince them to come and play us.. it's the world against us we'll be fine with our awesome young players who just happened to be cheap too..

13th place..

Indeed, now that we can buy UFAs why does everyone want us to try to act like the 90s Leafs? Good team build from within and use their money to keep the team together and patch minor holes through UFA.

I vote full rebuild. Everyone is regretting passing on Parise but he got a full year of NHL in a top 6 role as a rookie from Lou for development. And he did nothing last year. We need to give our kids a year of NHL dev time so they can be the next Parise's. Give them minutes and let them play. We may hae a rough next year, but we'll be stronger for it down the road. The future of this team isn't big UFA signings, it's our kids. If we want them to become Parise, they need to play.

Trade Smith + Horc + all 3 1sts for Pitkanen and Philly's 1st.
Draft Turris as he is our future number 1 C in 2 years after his body matures.
Resign Smyth for a bit of an overpay for previous team loyalty.
Resign Hejda for under 2M.

Smyth - Stoll - Hemsky
Pouliot - Schremp - Nilsson (soft minute dev time needed to become future stars)
Torres - Reasoner - Lupul
Moreau - Peterson - Stortini
Brodziak, Jacques

Pitkanen - Hejda
Staios - Smid
Greene - Gilbert
Roy/Grebs

Roli

Yup it'll likely hurt next year, but to get to 84, we had to go through 79/80. And even if we do have a brutal year, there are some great kids in 08.

You forgot about Pisani and his 2.5M.

Smyth - Horcoff/UFA/trade - Hemsky
Torres - Stoll - Lupul
Schremp- Pouliot - Nilsson (with the butter soft minutes)
Moreau - Reasoner - Pisani
Brodziak, Jacques, Stortini

OR

Smyth - Stoll - Hemsky
Torres - Sykora - Lupul

Moreau - Reasoner - Pisani
Brodziak, Jacques, Stortini

Hartnell(3.5m) Forsberg(5m) Hemsky(3.5m) Smid(0.6m) Timmonen(4m)

Schremp(0.6m) Stoll(2.5m) Lupul(2.5m) Smith(1.9m) Stuart(4m)
Hejda(0.9m) Greene(0.6m)

A) You're dreaming if you think Timonen will only sign for 4 mil. He'll be making 5 to 5.5
B) Forsberg won't sign here. We made an offer for him last season, and his reasoning was that he didn't want to play Colorado 8 times, hence the Eastern Conference signing. I have doubts he'll sign with any NHL team next year.
C) I have a feeling Torres will be looking for ATLEAST 1.5-2 million if Pisani's signed for 2.5

Nash isn't going anywhere. He's becoming a great 2 way player and I think Hitchcock likes him. I would be in heaven if he ever came to edm. I think it would take Hemksy to get Nash which I personally would do but would Columbus?

I don't like Nash at all and don't want him on this team.
