I'll take your word for it, but I could have sworn it was $11M over three years with 4 in the first two and 3 in the last.

nhlnumbers.com has it at 4.5, 3.5 & 3M. Oilfans has it at 4,4 & 3M ( which I think is correct). Either way the cap hit is $3,666,667M.

Roloson makes 4 next year and 3 the year after. Stortini's cap hit is 543,333 next year and RFA the year after.

The Edmonton Oilers will not have any of briere, hartnell, preissing or hannan by the first game of next season. It's just not going to happen. Hannan is probably the most likely, and only if smith is gone, and i still doubt that happens. I know you're a fan and everythung, but try and use a bit of objectivity.

Briere to edmonton? Not for less than 7 million.

i'm also not in a bad mood at all.
I don't see why Preissing or Hartnell would be THAT far of a stretch.

I'll agree with Briere though. Briere is gonna be top dog in the UFA market, so that one isn't as plausible.

I actually don't think the Oilers will even go after Hannan to be honest.

theoil, so does the average salary count against the cap every year regardless of what the individual is actually making? They don't do it per-year like before?

I read somewhere that initially the Rolie deal was 4,4,3 but they renegotiated to 4.5, 3.5, 3 to make him easier trade later on if necessary. That could be the source of the confusion.

You are correct. Staios and Moreau's contract goes down in the latter years as so does Roloson's in the thired year. Other players contracts are staggered like Hemsky's and Lupul's. The cap hit is the average of the salary. It's in the link I posted below.

That's how I understand it. Average over the length of the contract.

So the roster for next year looks something like...

Hemsky - Horcoff - UFA
Lupul - Stoll - UFA
Pisani - Pouliot - Torres(RFA)
Moreau - Reasoner - UFA

Jacques
Thorsen
Winchester(RFA)
Peterson(RFA)

UFA - Smith
Smid - Staios
Greene(RFA) - UFA

Roloson
UFA

With about $10 -12 mil to fill those holes? If spending to the cap probably about $17 mil? Possibly Nilson taking one of those spots on forward, and Thorsen, so that all the money can be focused on 1 first line forward, and 1 top pairiing D.

Looking at the numbers, and adding up how much it will cost to sign all our RFAs, plus Hejda... I figure it will leave the team at about the $38-39 million mark. That's a bit shocking. Really doesn't leave much left over for UFAs.
