Well, we got only Jagr and Lundqvist... If they areon, we might be able to get through it. Loss of Straka and Tyutin makes it almost impossible to win.
Have to think the season's pretty much on the line with these next two games. Gotta keep from getting physically run over and gotta just throw the puck at the net. Guns blazing tonight, boys...Let's go Rangers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avery and Witt have history. Avery speared Witt when he was with the Kings. Avery must play with Jagr tonight. Avery must get Witt off his game and make Witt take bad penalties. It will give Jagr more room as well. The other night Witt made Brashear take 4 mins cause Witt did not wanna fight, lets hope Witt dont do that to Avery, Hollweg or Orr tonight. Rangers win 4-2 reg. Goals by (1)Avery, (2)Jagr, (3)Cullen, (4)Prucha and (5)Mara.
Two people going to share credit for a goal tonight?

Never impossible. I'm a long time Islander fan and I know that anything can happen when these two teams play each other. Even in the Islander glory years...the Rags always put up a good fight.
For all those posters in the last week who posted about the season being over after we lost a couple close ones....tonights game is the real deal, HUGE in terms of the remote playoff possibilities of the Rangers. Things couldn't be much worse....Shanny out.....Tyutin out......Straka injured....Jagr not 100% but these are the type of games that define a teams character....and I'm hoping to see alot of that on display tonight.
Hopefully DP will keep his cool and not pay any attention to Sean Avery, cause if he starts worrying about Avery it'll be a long night for Islander fans.
Hope it's a hard fought clean game.
Good Luck the rest of the season (except when you play the Isles )

I'll be in my regular seats tonight....I think we have enough talent without Shanny, Straka and Toots to beat a good team, but it all depends on if we feel like playing for the full 60 minutes.
Any lull will be exploited by Islanders. We can't come out with that dazed look to start any period. Lundquist may have to stand on his head for us to get a point.
Those of you who know me know ive got a few sources within the league, one of them passed this on to me...

the Isles are really ******** bricks about this home and home. The word around the block is that the Rangers finally woke up with that win against STL with Vally in net. DP is worried about Avery. Earlier today there was a meeting between Nolan's staff, the defense and DP. Witt, Hill etc have been told to protect Rick at all costs. The Rangers need to take advantage of them concentrating on Avery by putting him out there with Jagr and Nylander. It will def create more room for Jaromir.

Yes, you know Witt and Hill (who's as nasty as they come) are going to be anal about the crease area. Hopefully Avery goes there on the very first shift, make the Isles worry about that instead of where the attention should be.
I doubt Nolan is stupid enough to fall into a crease war trap. The Isles are in 7th place and i doubt they are going to be baited into reckless play. These points are just as big for the Islanders, so i dont think theyll go out of their way to send a message.
Avery has to be careful though. This is his first taste of this rivalry and not only are the Islanders aware of his presence but so are the damn Refs. You also have to think that Nolan is smart enough to do his part in alerting the officials to Avery's intentions, considering what he did against Broduer and the Devils.
But thats why you need a guy like Avery. Get the other team worried about things before the puck drops.
The Rangers will need some firepower tonight and it appears Martin Straka, scratched for three straight games with an injured left shoulder, will play.
Straka skated on a line with Petr Prucha and Brad Isbister and coach Tom Renney said afterward, "this is the best he's looked."
Straka looked good to me, although I am not a medical trainer (nor do I play one on TV). But its also worth noting that the Rangers tested out some new lines today with Straka taking part. They were:

I have a feeling Simon and Asham will see a few shifts against Avery instead of Hill and Witt.
DP from what I have seen gets pretty physical around his crease area, so it will be intresting to see what Avery can do to get in his way and maybe get him off his game. Should be fun,LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck Isles fans..you guys have had a great season and it should be a fun game - it usually is between the two of us.
I'm noticing a lot of class on these boards. Liking it. Reminds me of Game 7 (or 6, the final game) of the Rangers/Pens series in '92. I sat in a bar with this guy who was a Rangers fan. I was rooting for Pittsburgh in a big way, but we just ended up getting drunk together and I actually felt bad for the guy by the end of the game.
Hey, we're HOCKEY fans...we gotta stick together, eh?
