The sad thing is with the salary cap in place Dolan makes profit hand over fist which means he'll never sell and we'll never win. God that pisses me off.
You conveniently deleted the part of my quote where I criticized Dolan and talked about his lack of class. So you didn't have to defend him.
You conveniently missed my posts where I agreed that Dolan was a classless fool.

Oh man, not these guys. It's a known fact that these guys hate Dolan.
Has there been a thread on this board recently with so many unlikeable egos? You've got Dolan, Checketts, Lupica and now Mike and the Mad Dog...I don't even want to take sides on an issue like this because they're all losers.
AMEN! hands down the best post of the thread. i wish they'd all go away for good.
you can add mushnick to the list as well. he's just as bad as anybody else with his anti-MSG/anti-dolan bias.
While I admit I loathe the guys covering this (Mike "Icky Little" Lupica and Phil "Someone PLEASE Think Of The Children!" Mushnick), but I couldn't believe this article when I read it yesterday - and coming from the Dolan Machine of Incompetence, that takes alot.
Look, as much as everyone wants to think back to how great Checketts was - he wasn't. He let Messier walk (while that wasn't much of a mistake at the time, we lost our heart and soul), brought in Sather (while that looked like a good move at the time, he hasn't exactly brought us a cup yet) and on the Knicks side he traded Ewing when his contract was expiring.
But at the same time, he brought us a cup and he deserves better than this. Dolan has just gone power-crazy and the fact that he would go as far as to say "I'll have him escorted out of the building" is crap. This is America, dude. To act like a complete jerk like that isn't exactly going to win you much support.
On a completely unrelated note, during saturday's game, one of the kids that goes out and scoops up the ice early in the game was named Dolan and was booed loudly.

My feelings have nothing to do with being pro-Checketts.

Likewise. But even if he took this story to the media, he still winds up coming off as the good guy in this....or at the very least, less of a complete jerk as Dolan.

Personally, I think that Checketts looks like a sneaky, whining, idiot in this.
He had to go and sneak around the media to let them all know what happened. I mean, it's not like we all don't hate Dolan. But this just gave us a reason to hate Checketts even more, IMO. The guy was looking for free handouts as a MILLIONAIRE and was told to go buy his own ticket.
Then he *****es about that?
Ridiculous. He looks like a complete and utter imbecile right now in my eyes.

If Dolan is accomodating and gracious and puts aside any personal feelings, there is no story.
If Checketts wasn't poaching employees from Dolan, there is no story.
Since when was that a crime? If I was offered a better job I would take it unless I really liked the environment I work in now. Maybe they didnt' like working under Dolan. Maybe they were offered more pay or a better position. Either way I don't see a problem with them leaving.
It sounds like Dolan doesn't have the class to put their personal grudges aside and show professional courtesy to another owner. George Steinbrenner and John Henry can do it why can't Dolan?

it's not a crime but if checketts was sneaking around msg trying to get employees rather than being formal with dolan(which wouldn't surprise me if that's the case since it's checketts we're talking about here) then that's unprofessional.

Dolan is the definition of unprofessional. Look the word up in the dictionary, you see a picture of Dolan. At worst you're accusing Checketts of being like Dolan, but you don't even know if that's true since nobody knows how Checketts approached MSG employees.
And the fact is whenever a manager moves to a different company he tries to bring his best people with him whenever possible. Using words like 'poaching' or 'sneaking around MSG' is ridiculous. Employees are free to leave any company, and from what you hear about Dolan, some MSG employees are just looking for a reason. And Checketts wouldn't have to 'sneak around', he most likely has the phone numbers of the employees he liked most.
How do we know he wasn't allowed to? Maybe they all decided it would be fine without a big old speech?
I cannot recall a single instance where an honoree did not say at least a few words at a ceremony honoring him, in any sport. Considering that JD made a living by talking it seems unlikely that he chose not to speak.

And as far back as I can remember, JD has been the MC for all the on-ice ceremonies. They should have allocated some time for him, I'm sure he would have handled the situation with class and dignity.
The problem is Dolan doesn't even understand the concepts of class and dignity, so he can't recognize it in other people either.
