With a grade I MCL sprain, athletes will return to full play after up to 10- 14. Grade II MCL sprains will keep athletes out of play for about 3 weeks and grade III sprains will keep athletes out for an average of 5 weeks. Each athlete is different with progression and if progression is slow, re-evaluation for other injuries is necessary.

May not be too bad.

Then again, sometimes more tests reveal a TEAR and not a sprain.

I thought all sprains were a variation of minor tears?

Which is why they do more tests (I think) the suspected strain could be more..

Lets hope for the best.

I understand that, but in that case why are you upset that we didn't trade him for picks? which also couldn't help us in 'the now', as you put it. You can't have it both ways, if your concern is the now then you wouldn't want to move him for futures, and if your concern is the future then you shouldn't be too upset because we'll retain him next season.

Now who moves up on the top line? Gotta figure Isbister would get a shot. Him and Hossa have been dominant protecting the puck down low these past few games as well as creating numerous opportunities.

Avery was playing there at the end of the game. I would assume they'd keep him up there to stand infront of the net and take attention away from Jagr.

Oh for the LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY.

I miss the game, come home, see we win a fantastic game, read the game notes... and *****! Is this team snakebit or what? I am so POed. My favorite player on the big squad - poof.

Do we know it's a month? Already? Can we hope for less time?

What the hell happened?

Hossa was a great big body to cycle the puck with Jagr and Straka. And he had skill. He is going to be missed (yes, I'm Captain Obvious). Straka and Jagr need another big body now, someone who also has decent hands and who can win board battles.

I'd say put Isbister on their flank. The reason I say Isbister is because Straka and Jagr need someone who can win a loose puck battle and can put back a rebound for a score. It keeps other lines in tact and all we'd need to do now is fill the 4th line RW spot. Leave kids in Hartford, since they're locked in struggle for playoffs as well, which is a great opportunity for all of our young guys. Call up an AHL veteran to fill the last spot on the roster. Or give the spot to Orr.

This is what I'd ideally like to see with current roster:

Isbister-Straka-Jagr
Prucha-Nylander-Avery
Cullen-Immonen-Ortmeyer
Hollweg-Betts-Orr.

Edit: Or what RangerSteve said.

This really stinks. Thats all i have to say.

Hossa has been one of our top players since the all-star break and now he's out along with our 2nd best Winger and our top defenseman.

this is bad news with marcel but id rather see this

avery-nylander-jagr
prucha-cullen-ortmeyer
isbister-immonen-straka
hollweg-betts-orr

however i see renney playing immo on the 4th line and moving betts up to the 3rd line, isbister provides the big body with immo and straka, avery provides space and does dirty work plus he goes to the net with nylander and jagr, we know the cop line works

Keep Avery up on Jags' Line because he can take the D's attention somewhat away from Jagr... You don't want Isbister handling the puck when Jagr and Nylander are on...

Or What Balej20 said...

I know I'm very back & forth on this, I really did want him traded, with the way he was playing we could have got somthing for him, since we did not trade him i was keeping my fingers crossed, as where we all that he would continue to play the way he has been playing, & Hossa has been on fire. so Its not likr I was going to root for the guy to fail since we did not trade him, as long as he was here he was adding a lot to the team.
As far as next season goes, Ill worry about next season in the off season.

Totally sucks, Hossa had been our most complete wing for awhile...Gonna hurt.....Personally, I was impressed with ISBISTER tonight and he definentely desreves a game against the Isles on the top few lines (compared to a speedier call up such as Callahan or Dawes)..Evaluate the lines again after the 2nd Isle game...Maybe Isbister plays with Betts and Holly against some teams whie a call up kid plays on the 2nd line ..The opposite is more likely though...

Really makes you realize how fortunate we were last season in terms of injuries, at least until we were already in the playoffs. I've always thought that health was a big factor in the team's overachieving last year.

Easy come, easy go. Hopefully one of the kids (I'm hoping Dawes, though I know most of you prefer Callahan) will get a chance to show what he's made of.

Man, what's with this team the past two seasons with all the injuries in February and now March? It's like smooth sailing for the first four months and then boom, they start dropping like flies.
