I'd rather play Detroit, I like their game better.

When has Lucic's mouth NOT been agape?

I'd love to play Detroit to beat their team, but I'd love to play Boston to beat their fans.

I don't care. You need to be capable of beating the best to win the Cup.

Rather Detroit.

We're not build to survive a best of 7 against big, tough team.

Detroit.

Just because I hate the booins and would love for them to fall flat on their nut spearing faces.

Road to the finale : TB - Detroit - Columbus - Anaheim

Ducks are so destroyed! And Koivu would be on the ice while we bring a cup back in Mtl!

Since Toronto and Ottawa are regressing, I think we need to find a legitimate second rivalry. Think of the beautiful hockey an intense Detroit/Montréal rivalry could produce. Drool.

normally i would say the bruins but given our dismal PP record and their propensity to have a revolving door going in and out of the penalty box, Id say unless we can take advantage of those opportunities we're gonna have a tough time making them regret playing the way they do.

in the past we owned them purely because our PP was so dominant and the fear of repeatedly being penalized for goonery would get them off their game.

if our PP doesn't come back from the dead, it's gonna be a seriously gruesome matchup.. (of course, provided we make it through the 1st round which is yet to be finalized)

I said let's not screw with karma and focus on the 4th win vs TB. Finish them off NOW!

Welcome to HF!

As for the question, I'd prefer Boston, we just seem to win against them more often than not. Not that I think it will be an easy series for us, but I think we'll have a better chance.

I have a question though, someone told me that there's a reseeding after the first round... Is there? Or does the Boston-Detroit winner play the Montreal-Tampa winner?

Lets try to beat the lightning first before we start having these discussions. I can already tell you I won't mind either way though. We'll play who we have to play. Any team is hard to play against in the playoffs.

There is no more reseeding under the new format.
Assuming we finish off Tampa Bay, we are playing the winner of the Boston/Detroit series.

BTW page 4 of this thread and no one has mentionned that we would have home ice advantage vs Detroit.

I'd hate to play the Bruins. Regular season is one thing, but playoffs is another story. Didn't they sweep the habs a few seasons ago?

I think this team doesn't care about home ice advantage. They're pretty comfortable no matter what. Although in other series home ice advantage seems to be pretty big...

This is true facing Anders Lindback, but Rask and Howard are in a different class IMO.

The correct answer is Detroit, for two reasons:

1) LOL @ Boston

2) Even if we beat Boston, we're coming out battered.

In the short term, then yes Boston matchup is more exciting.

Detroit, because it forces Brooins fans to cheer for a team they would probably hate by then (though less than the habs obviously).

Boston, because it's Boston and it's meant to be.

Brain says Detroit, because when we get to to the Finals we will be a lot less roughed up than if we play the Bruins...

but....heart says Boston for the awesome factor!

I swear some posters around here are so superstitious it's insane. Whatever we write here has absolutely no impact on the outcome of the game.

Should the Habs send some pro scouts to the DET-BOS game? Or will it jinx them? Did Therrien jinxed the team when he promised a few days off in case of a sweep?

These are moves that may actually have an impact on the outcome of the game. The jinx fanatics should be mad.

I call a shutout tonight for Price!
