Rangers have been pretty shy about any call ups this season imo. Hartford is on a roll and I think they do care that those players have a good run as a team as well.
Wont be surprised with no call ups, but if I had a choice I'd like to see what Korpikoski can do on the big team.
Cally deserves the call and the chance to play meaningful minutes...
like that will happen. Callahan should have gotten called up instead of Isbister. If Callahan or another youngster gets called up, they will play about 2 mins of ice.
Call up? Boy are people quick to jump the gun. Call up Lessard. Call up a guy who can sit here as an emergency forward. Then simply go with:
Isbister-Nylander-Jagr
Straka-Immonen-Prucha
Avery-Cullen-Ortmeyer
Hollweg-Betts-Orr
Lessard would have to be signed to an NHL contract first.

So why call them up then?
I don't know how anyone can be down on Isbister after the way he's played the last two games.

isbister has played vey well the last two games, i don't think he has warranted 1st or 2nd line time and powerplay time, but for a 3rd liner and penalty killing, im happy with him. he was always a ranger killer with the islanders, lets hope on thursday he becomes and islander killer with a big goal

Im not down on Isbister, but why cant they give Callahan or Dawes 12-14 mins a game. Why do they have to give the rookies 4-6 mins on the 4th line. Why not put Dawes or Callahan in Hossa's spot on the first line??? Heck when Elias was out the Devils called up Tackellson and put him on the first line with Gomez. That is why the Devils win year after year, they not only draft well, they give their youngsters real ice time. They dont call up their leading scorer from the AHL, and put them with Rasmussen or Jansens, like the Rangers did with Dawes and Callahan.
Absolutely true.....and he had a terrific game last night.
I want him nowhere near the first two lines, that's all.
Actually, I want him nowhere near the team. He may be having a streak where he's played hard, but that will end. It's been the albatross of his career.
Hah, at Hugh. Hugh does make some sense imo. Whoever we bring up probably isnt going to get major minutes and Hugh does some things that suit the 3rd or 4th lines in the fighting and in the use of the body. Would be scary though to break up the growth he's shown recently however. Then again, maybe this type of call up would express to him the value in the hard work and really get his interest in playing.
I like Liffiton or Baranka personally. Both are different and i think both have their value in a few places. Liffiton is good in that he brings something to the defense that they dont have with the very physical play. Baranka just shows good ability all around.
I would say if you want to bring intimidation to the next game...
Jessiman and Lifton come up. Just my opinion.
If you want to bring in speed & skill. Callahan & Baranka
When playing the Islanders you never know what's going to happen, but I'd say that next game they are going to come at us with a little rough stuff to make sure that the same thing that happened last game doesn't happen again. So I'd say stack the lines.
id play jarkko, bring up martin richter as an extra dman and bring up someone like lessard or someone to sit on the bench. maybe even puringoon. i think the kids are better served w/ regular minutes in the minors. i dont wanna be short sighted in their development.
the rangers need to call up 1 forward and 1 D. I have no opinion because have not seen many of them play that much but the next game will be rough and the rangers must play physical.. The rangers will not get 56 shots next game.
Seems like Jessiman is doing all he can to keep up with the tempo of the AHL, why would he all of a sudden be able to make the next jump? The kid would probably **** his pants if a line of Satan-Yashin-Smyth was coming at him, I think he's better off gaining confidence and consistency at the AHL level first. The reactions I've read seem to show he's still not mentally ready, i.e. poor defensive positioning, clueless without the puck, etc., to be consistently effective in the AHL. I think he's at least another year or two away from mounting a meaningful challenge to our current third and fourth liners, let alone those who are already playing well for the Pack. I'm surprised Renney didn't mention Korpikoski as a call-up. Seeing as how they'll most likely stick a call-up in the lower lines/low minutes, why not bring up the best defensive player?
It's not his work ethic that I have a problem with, it's his talent level...same way I felt with Krog. They're hard working, but hardly talented...
I don't neccesarily agree. Isbister has legit NHL size and is a good skater. He also skates north/south which this team really needs. He's been good in the corners.
Of the options out there, I have no problem with him.

Completely agree. What i liked about isbister the most were the two rushes he had when he went around the defensman and drove to the net. Him doing this got people going. I love this isbister guy. A hardworker that can actually score. wowzer

I defenitly agrees with you on Jessiman, but he aren't a factor gooing north-south in the AHL either, so therefor he would contribute the same in that aspect in the NHL. He would still have some value with his size here in the NHL. Just playing extremely simple, go to the net and working in the corners.
But if he is brought up I wouldn't be suprised if wound up getting 3 minutes. If we are creating pressure like we did against NYI last night he would be valueble, but if its a trench game he is a risk.
